Has anyone mentioned the goal against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. "Nayim from the halfway line" ten years before Nayim?

If he didn't, the one I have in mind was also vs. Forest at the City Ground. It had shades of Van Basten's famous Euro goal for Holland...vicious volley from a narrow angle as I recall?

Salako was a more complete player than Bolasie and Zaha are now. It's a pity that injury blighted his career. I think that Zaha has the potential to eclipse Salako if he develops his talent and becomes a better all round contributor to the team. The other thing I loked about 'Salad' was that he played with a smile on his face, bit like Bolasie does. Zaha looks moody and when he is not up for it you can tell in his body language. John Salako now lives in Woldingham and I've seen him doing the shop in Warlingham Sainsbury with the kids. Seems a nice bloke. Surprised Palace don't have him doing a bit of scouting while he does his media work.

My favourite Palace player ever. Always the player I pretended to be on the school playground and in the local park playing football. Any pub talk now about great players of the past and I annoy my mates by immediately mentioning him. Always like to watch the wingers and he was class. Maybe I view him through rose-tinted glasses clouded by nostalgia and my yearning to be young again lol. Was unfortunate that he was blighted by injury and he would have probably become an even better player but on the plus side can you imagine if he had improved , we sold him to , for example , Manchester Utd and then he had played there for years and would now be known throughout the world as a former MUFC player , we wouldn't quite have the same respect and admiration for him would we ?
"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!" |

Loved Salad. He came over from Nigeria and moved to my home town, Sevenoaks (Well Westerham, but near enough).Salad went to Widerness school in Sevenoaks, I went to school with two of his brothers, Paul and Dave in Tunbridge Wells. Was great to see Salad break into the first team and do so well. Was in the shadow of Bright and Wright for a long time as he was pretty much just a striker but they started to play him out wide and he never looked back. Could've had a great England career but for that horrid injury when Mel Sterland landed on his knee (unitentional as it was).A tru gentleman and great servant for us, and key to the team that finished 3rd.
