After that quarter final, we went on a bad run and we just about stayed up.
If memory serves right I think we beat Wrexham at home on a Tuesday night second last game of the season to beat the drop.
Would love to know the crowd that night.
Before we lost to Newcastle at home 2-0 in the last game.

Forgot about the sunday game with orient, did we take a lot of there for that?

It was a pretty crap season all round apart from the cup run, according to Ian King's complete record book the Wrexham attendance was 7,252. I know I was there, but I can't remember those two home games at all, I do remember going to the last two away games though against shrewsbury and Cardiff, there was 63 of us at shrewsbury, its sad that we used to count I know!! :-)

I think the orient league game turn out was poor, which was another reason it was so flat, understandable people blowing it out after going there for a much bigger game a few nights before.

I will have to get that complete record book.
I knew it wernt a big crowd that night but did't think it was that low.
Went to Shrewsbury first away game of 83/84 season 1_1 draw, Stan Cummins scored I think (free kick).
We had a good mob at that one and it kicked off after in the town centre after.
Ive got some good memorys of those early 80s awaydays days, which is strange because we were complete dog s*** on the pitch.

It's an excellent book, I hardly missed a game in those first few years of the 80's, but it's obviously hard to remember it all now and reading through the stats of each season brings back the memories.

You're spot on mate, it was a s*** team for a few years, poor turn outs for away games and some horrible northern dumps with dilapidated grounds we went too, but it was good times!!

One of the more memorable home games that season was the 3-3 draw against Luton who won the league that year. Think it was televised too but have never seen footage of it since.

Here you go ...

I was one of 23 that went to Ayresome park on a Tuesday night.

Jim Cannon came out and gave us free tickets.

We lost 2-0 .

I was also at the Oldham away nil nil that was mentioned before. We played football on the terrace. Went on the special that took about 5 hours to get there as we kept having to let the Inter City trains go past...

A new era of total football is on the way to Selhurst Park!!

That's a terrible turn-out, but I look back on those times being part of only a handful of away fans with pride......we were the elite

I remember playing football on the terraces that day.
Did't the police come on the terrace and arrest somebody for not giving the ball back that day.
