What more do people want? More criticism of mainstream Islamic belief systems that directly oppose traditional western values. Something like that.

Head in the sand Nick....Head in the sand.....I think maybe you feel that mainstream Islam is reformist. You should read and listen to Irshad Manji....You might just lift your head back up from the sand. She is a Muslim anyone would be proud to have in their country. Gay, Islamic and outspoken about the veils people like to use. I bought her book, 'Allah, Liberty and Love'. She very much identifies mainstream Islam as the problem when it comes to the survival of Islamic extremism. Islamic attitudes in support of apostasy and Sharia law are large enough to call them mainstream. Mainstream Islam and reformist Islam aren't the same thing.

The muslims I have met, and working in london schools I meet quite a few, are all intolerant of muslim extremism and ashamed of what happens in the name of Allah and the prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him.

Sure, there are a lot of reformist Muslims in the UK.....But again, you're not recognising that mainstream Islamic belief does also carry a lot of support for apostasy and Sharia law as well. Enough to call it mainstream. Did you see many Islamic people complaining about the schools in Birmingham? I'm sure there are some but their are pretty quiet to me. Like I say Nick, read Irshad Manji.....She is a Muslim and she tells it like it is......Maybe you should listen.

There's a lot more than meets the eye to the Trojan horse affair - enough to warrant its own thread. All sides are in some respect culpable. I shall check out the Irshad Manji, thanks for the heads up. I think you should worry a little less about muslims and more about what this current lot in power are doing to our way of life.

You are most welcome.....She is frankly wonderful and I think you will like her.....A lot of what she says applies to all society really and not just Islamic matters. Well, I kind of agree Nick.....This is a small thing in terms of the wider picture....Still, the thread is kind of about Islamic extremism.....So it's worth a post or two I suppose. And did I say Irshad Manji is wonderful?

The World would be a better place if Islam didn't exist and pretty much every other religion.

Your apologist dogma makes me sick.
