This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Importance of Jedi' by Penge Eagle

Is it me, or is there another thread on literally, almost an identical title?

To suppose that because Jedi is not the best passer will excuse him from being marked is pretty wide of the mark. He is the hub of this team and to prevent him receiving the ball and then prevent him from going to meet threats would greatly alter the effectiveness of the side. Obvious really. I think O'Keefe may be the perfect foil.

The Importance Of Jedinak
----------------------------

This is why he was my Player of the season.
Jules has been fantastic, some memorable saves etc.............but had we not had Jedi then God knows what may have happened.
Class.

You miss the point Ade. Why mark Jedi and leave the wingers?

Because Jedi has such a big effect on how Palace play. The wingers can only do what they do if allowed to by a well organised springboard. Jedi is that springboard.

He may not be the best passer but he strides forward into space with confidence, giving us a positional advantage.

He is our last gasp effort on defence and midfield always puts in a fantastic shift

Also a big fan of Jedi.

It is frustrating when his passing goes astray. He seems to have about four - six weeks every season when this is at it's worse. It's as though he's mentally tied as decisions made on passing looks dodgy as well, all his strenuous and hard work during the season catching up on him.

He's a great leader on the field, looking as though he loves the role. Takes responsibility, never shirking out of taking on players when they have the ball, making sure he stays up. Also great off the ball. I also think he likes the challenge of going forward with the ball although I must admit I am thinking 'Now you can just pass it to a more attacking player'.

As far as injury/suspension is concerned. We do have O'Keefe (played a great play-off final) and it wouldn't surprise me if Ward could fit in there without any problem, with Ledley. As long as there is a good understanding between fellow players.

Mustn't forget is super penalty against West Ham. Perfect placement

Here's to a great World Cup for Jedi.

WTF are all these posts about man-marking a defensive, holding midfielder? It would be a complete waste of a player and will never happen.
