Agree with so much on this thread. Absolutely world class bit of play by Murray, barely mentioned by the media who as many have said, would be falling over themselves to heap praise if it had been done by a Rooney or a Suarez.

To be fair, Barry Glendenning, who did the min-by-min for the game, specifically calls out Murray for a "wonderful assist" at the end (minute: 53:50) of the latest Guardian Football Weekly podcast.

Watching the replay of it, that assist just looks better and better, its a perfect through ball/knock down for Gayle to run on to.

Yeah their defence was poor, and has been poor all season, but they had defenders on the bench. Any team that cannot hold down a 3-0 lead in a vital game, with 10 minutes left on the clock isn't good enough.

Could you imagine Palace this season not being able to hold on for 10 minutes or so, at 3-0 up. We've been doing it for 30 minutes at 1-0 up. Brendon Rodgers manager of the season, more like bottler of the season.

It's a team game. They all bottled it.

Gerrard wll bottle it during the WC too

In fact the only time Gerrard won't bottle-it, is when attacking a complete stranger in a bar |(from behind), getting it captured on CCTV, and then being found 'Not Guilty'. WTF ?

Keep it realistic now. The chest down pass was a moment of brilliance that our (mainly) tabloid media and biased broadcasters cannot, or do not want, to see.
But that doesn't make Gerrard a bad player. He can do some very skilful passing and tackling and is serving England well. That same old media are creating this messiah figure who has to do everything at a brilliant level all the time. Then they exploit all those magic moments he produces to show us how superior and football savvy they are. We shouldn't fall for their 'fame' games.

Let's face it, if the other team did it, it would've been labelled as world class.

If it had come off Suarez's teeth?

I have ready many match reports on the Liverpool game and not one has lauded the now famous Murray chest down. It was pure class..... Spun in mid air and delivered an inch perfect pass. Technically very difficult. Well done Glenn Well done Dwight!

If Liverpool had done that to us, MOTD would be creaming themselves about the SAS. Instead, it's just a defensive error.

It wasn't good defensively as Sakho should have been much closer to Skrtel and around on the cover whereas he was miles away and Gayle was left in acres of space.

But credit Murray for the flick-on, Gayle for gambling that he would win it and getting behind him and Gayle of course for the finish.

Chamakh has had a lot of praise but I don't remember any flick-on like Murray's. Murray and Gayle for me next season (unless we can get Rhodes/McCormack).
