There has been mention of Mike Ashley on here. When he took over I think Newcastle had some £65 Mill of external debt but he cleared that with his injection of some £140 Mill. It has been well documented that he is unpopular with the supporters and Pardew is seen as his mate hence the wrath is extended to "Super Al" .

Not a career move i would want to take. The position should come with a health warning.

How many managers have they sacked in the past 15 years?

If TP thought SP was hard to work with, he would find Mike Ashley even more so. The guy has so much wealth, but fails to invest in the team.

I don't know how many managers they have actually sacked in the last 15 years, but I have a feeling that Pardew is probably the 9th or 10th manager during this period. But I think Ashley has only been at the helm since 2007 and that his first managerial appointment was Sam Allardyce.

I might be wrong but I think Allardyce was replaced by fans favourite Kevin Keegan. It was Keegan who signed Collocini who has been very good for Newcastle.

..more like thirteen if they do away with Pardew.

1 Robson
2 Carver
3 Souness
4 Roeder
5 Pearson
6 Allardyce
7 Pearson (again)
8 Keegan
9 Hughton
10 Kinnear
11 Shearer
12 Hughton (again)
13 Pardew

I have a feeling Pearson was 'Caretaker' as was Carver who was listed in a previous post.

We all look at it thru red and blue tinted spectacles, fact is getting palace up to the level, on and off the pitch, to compete for Europe is a five year job. Pulis knows with his stock as high as it is now, he cd get a job at a side with a club of that stature now, and may well take it, with the added incentive of a large pay rise and better contract.

I wd be gutted to see him go. Best manager we've had since sir Steve, but whatever happens the club will move on.

After success at Selhurst why on earth would Pulis want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire!? Yes Newcastle are very much in need of a decent manager but for the time being at lesst, St.James Park is a burial ground for managers..

Alan Pardew is a very good manager, as he has proved both at Southampton and Newcastle and 2 or 3 before them, it's difficult to manage a team if your being strangled by the owners.

If TP did leave I'd have no problem with Alan Pardew coming in as manager.

Everyone said that palace had no chance staying up, and he achieved it. He probably feels that given the comparative easy size of the challenge at Newcastle, where his remit will solely be keep us in league, and the undoubted potential they have, that it's a tempting offer. And then there's the money. Lots of money...
