I don't get anyone moaning about the singing. The fans this season have been part of the reason the club has stayed up, I saw my first game in 1965 and the noise now is the loudest and most continuous ever - lets applaud those fans! The game was quite odd though, it was the first game that the result was largely unimportant and the early goal didn't help. The fans, me included, did sit back a little and just watched a football masterclass.

The noise is great but thats all it is is noise. The HF are great at starting things off but only if you want to join them. The lads at the back of the B block started several songs yesterday that were ignored and sung over by the guys at the front A) because they werent started by the HF and B) Because they cant drum to along to it. It does seem that all they want to sing about is scum this, scum that, hate this, hate that. THAT is the reason the families dont join in, the older generation dont join in etc. not boredom etc. yesterday could have been a top celebratory atmosphere for nothing other than the team is safe, yet they still feel the need to sing about Brighton etc. Can't we sing about OUR club instead of everyone elses?? In the post season HOL Interview of Steve Parish I made a glib comment about plastics. Quite rightly Steve said 'I don't really like the term plastics, I prefer to see them as new or returning fans. As it is these people put money into our club. Money we will need to continue to develop this club. Some of these people may see Premiership football as a prerequisite of why they will go to games but that doesn't stop them from being fans of our club.' (These is paraphrased from memory). At the time I was a little sceptical of the comment but have grown to understand over this season that the comment is right. These people who return or come for the first time are likely to continue coming whilst we're in the premiership. They might not be singers but perhaps once they learn the songs they will stay. Perhaps some of these people will end up getting season tickets and will stay. Eventually they may start bringing their kids, and these will be the people that sing their hearts out, go home and away to every game and will continue our reputation (not just self claimed) of being the best fans in the league. Yes the game was quiet from our perspective and perhaps part of this was the noise that the City fans brought with them, the fact that we never really got going in the match, the fact that City scored early and never really looked troubled after that. I certainly saw at least one City fan in the Arthur (home section) and whilst that annoyed me I figure he's here to support his club just like when I sit in P4 against Fulham (a designated home section) I will be. The point is we're still the best fans in the league by a considerable margin and the swelled crowd sizes will only help to keep it this way. Ground expansion and modernisation is a must and hopefully if we can keep the loudest most passionate fans together when that occurs then the noise will only get bigger and better with time. And to end this I would like to provide the most cheesy quote available to me 'Be loud, be proud, be Palace!' I don't think it's intentional though. I've stood at the back of B a few times this season and a lot in the middle last season. The back of B will generally try to start a song by singing over a song that the front is singing. If it generates enough noise at the back it filters to the front and I've heard on numerous occasions the songs at the front changing to join in with the back. But sometimes if the back are not loud enough those down the front can't hear them and as such won't join in. I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that.

I agree it was embarrassing, live on sky and we can't even get our own anthem playing correctly as our team came out.Set the tone for the rest of the afternoon.I also agree too many of our songs are negative and do not generate support for the team.Lets have more of " WE ARE PALACE, WE ARE PALACE FROM SELHURST" for example.
