For the next Five Years we need to try to stay in The Premier League. Agree - we have just survived our first ever season in the PL and already people have us home & away to Barca. Lets see what happens next season - a top 10 finish should be the extent of our ambition. In three or four years we may be ready for Europe - or being Palace - propping up the Championship again !

say we don't get second season syndrome and become an established premier league side. what does everyone think our chances are of getting european football. for me watching palace in europe is the ultimate dream and i can die happy. looking at recent teams hull, stoke, birmingham, wigan, fulham etc the odds cant be that bad. probably getting a bit carried away but its about time we all had something to be optimistic about. When did Hull ever play in Europe, their only chance this season is if they lose to Arsenal, and the Arsenal qualify automatically, then they will qualify. Which is a very realistic out come.. And it's not just if they lose and Arsenal qualify for champions league (which I think will be the most likely case). If Hull win the FA cup they are too in Europe Yes, a big if, they've just been tonked 3-0 at home, what chance they'll keep it to only 3 at Wembley.

I've just seen the most despicable post ever on this site. Rob 1969 thinks there's no chance of Europe soon, but Palace will probably be propping up the Championship. With support like that the club are probably pulling out their hair and wondering if it's worth having a team at all. FAITH.

Plenty of negatives to being in europe but as fans we should be celebrating the positives, im sure swansea fans wouldnt give up winning the carling cup to finish a couple of places higher this season.

If we did secure a place in European competitions by getting a good PL finish, do we have to accept the 'prize' of playing in Europe? Clearly it's a different kettle of fish, but I remember Man Utd under Sir Alex didn't compete in the FA cup one year, many many years ago, as he wanted to concentrate on the PL title instead.
