usually in the Holmesdale but got my ticket late and ended up in the Arthur near the villa fans. A few of their idiots did ruin the minute silence but even their fans tried to keep them quiet. They sang well in 1st half but were quiet thereafter and then turned on Lambert at the end. The bit of trouble during and after the game was so avoidable it was almost embarrassing. How much do we spend on police yet they can't get the basics right. The empty seats section between the fans has quite rightly been reduced recently however it would help if there were a few stewards sitting in these seats to ensure everyone behaved themselves. This is common at every ground yet was missing yesterday. They only moved in after the trouble. Then after the game I find it amazing both sets of supporters are allowed to exit via entrances right next to each other with NO police present. It is a testament to the good behaviour of the majority of Palace fans that incidents were limited. Pretty basic stuff to get right surely.

Did anyone hear the booming voice coming from the back of B block during the silence "shut up villa" he said. Bit silly shouting that out, but my god what a voice that person has! Villa were all drunk so not surprised a lot of them were playing up during the silence.

I was sitting in the main stand opposite the Villa fans and some were shouting during the minute silence, credit to the decent Villa fans though as they kept shouting at them to shut the heck up. On another note, when we were leaving the ground, a Palace fan who was walking with his little boy seemed hell bent on trying to sart a fight with some of the Villa fans, I witnessed him three times verbally abusing them, fact he was doing this in front of his boy, the man was a disgrace, his little lad was crying his eyes out, credit to the away fans though for laughing him off bit of a disgrace to be honest.

Here's a comment on the Villa forum (Heroes & Villains) On the train out to the ground I realised just quite how far we had fallen as Palace fans took the piss out of our once great club as they clearly looked forward to another three points. Not Chelsea, arsenal, city or United but Crystal f***ing Palace! Of course the best answer would be for Villa to give them a footballing lesson but it soon became clear that wasn't going to happen. We did keep possession fairly well first half starving them -and us - of any real chances. At half time though for the second week running the opposition manager saw Villa were there for the taking and with one or tweaks actively urged his team forward. The pressure was building and the need to do something to stem this was evident to all 3000 travelling Villa fans. Sadly not to our illustrious manager no not even after we had survived (correctly) a penalty appeal as result of that growing tide. No changes and surprise surprise who should score against us but the player who always has done well against Villa in recent seasons. In a stadium which has to be the biggest s***hole since Portsmouth went down we were spineless and rudderless and got turned over by the mighty Crystal Palace. I have no doubt that at the moment this team is by some way the worst in the division. Every other seems determined to still fight and earn unexpected results whilst we act like a charitable organisation handing out points to the poor and needy. I just hope we can somehow find those extra 3/4 which will keep us safe and that the sale of the club which was so heavily rumoured yesterday can happen. After that we go again but hopefully without Lerner and Lambert. Beyond fury lets just finish this and go Edited by Gary St.Andrews (13 Apr 2014 10.51am) I read the same sort of stuff on their forums - they have a greatly over inflated sense of their club and its position in the grand scheme of things

I did see one of them smashing a Palace fan over the head with a violin.

The singing during silence was fans arriving later and they were not yet at seats area and did not know that the silence was happening. They had some right nasty boys there on Saturday, it was going off in little spurts during the game - l felt sorry for the blonde stewardess who was in the middle of it (she should have stayed at British Airways)!! It was funny when one of their firm was carried out by 6 stewards, he made a right mug of himself!!

To be fair it was pissed up Villa coming in late, unaware that the silence was on, once told to be quiet they were. and all were very quiet at the end. However the behaviour during the first half was poor to say the least.
I support Scotland, Hibs and the Palace, no glory hunters here!!!!!! PLEASE SIR, CAN I HAVE A PIE!! |
