We're almost as bad as scousers for looking back and harking on about the past. He left, in a c*nty way, but he left. Since then he's been s***.

No one is asking us to sign Gary Borrowdale again, so why John Bostock? Ridiculous.

Why would people take him back in a heartbeat? Attitude problem and treacherous money grabbing antics aside, he is just simply not good enough for a premier league team.

He captained the England Under 17s. He MAY have finally got over whatever problems he had, which look like attitude. I guess people think one day he will get back on track and come good, I personally think that is likely. And he is the one that got away, the itch we all want to scratch. How many threads have there been on HOL about him!
If he comes as good as he had the potential to, then I would like us to get him back just as he is coming good before a bigger team snatches him up. That way we start to get back our investment in him from earlier times. But as in earlier posts, only if he is really coming good AND if we need his type of player.

Too bloody many

Any player playing in Belgium's second division isn't someone we should look at.

That said, I can't understand the hate towards Bostock himself. This whole ordeal is representative of issues within modern football and youth, especially English youth.

Blame his dad, and most likely people at Spurs putting ideas in his head, but I find it hard to blame what was a 16 year old boy with the venom I see here sometimes. How many of you were level headed at 16? How many 16 year olds are level headed in today's society? And how many 16 year olds do you think could have their head turned by the promises whispered in his ear?

I feel sorry for the lad to be honest; those around him are the reason he's playing in Belgium.

Good post, thanks, had all the same feelings as everyone else when he left but who could hold a grudge against a 16 year old who makes the wrong decision when advised to by elders and advisors! Glad he is working his way up, lets see what happens, it is unlikely he will come back to Palace methinks.

if everyone had that attitude we would never have signed Ian Wright

That's a little bit different, and I was more referring to JB's position on the football ladder.

There are some "lesser" leagues in Europe that hold some amazing young talent, such as the Eredivisie, so it's not like I'm saying "All leagues below us are dirty peasants and not fit to wear the shirt".

To be fair, Benelux is somewhere that I would heavily scout; the talent that has come out of that pocket of Europe is remarkable.

I think there are more people in London than in the Benelux and a very good tradition for developing top players. Just need better coaching, that's where England can learn from the Benelux. Wimbledon proved that, an amazing 20 odd years producing local players able to compete at top level. If anyone should ask who of the Wimbledon teams was worth pursuing the answer must always be the coaches!

I find all the slating of the lad so disappointing.

Nearly 6 years on and still he's not known as John Dogscock.

I'd be absolutely livid and throw a massive hissy fit if he ever came back as I want to be bitter and hate-filled and vengeful and small-minded and act like a sour spurned drama queen as it's not practical or reasonable to be like that in real life.

Then I'd want him to prove me wrong and shove my bile down my throat by becoming a world-beater, making me love him like no other, despite myself, before then running down his contract and re-signing for Spurs on a free, going on to win an injury-time peanalty in the cup final against us with a ludicrous dive, which he steps up to score to equalise, before scoring an outrageous overhead kick winner from his own half in extra time. The dogscocky c***.

It's only larks, innit?

What's all the fuss about? He's not coming back ....Amen!!!!

Like to see Victor Moses though. Unlikely to feature for Liverpool or Chelsea again and he might do a very good job for us?

That's a good article. If not written for him it seems like he has learned. I am sure he will play in the championship and maybe the Prem in future.
