The alternative to what has happened this season would have seen us lose 5-0 on Saturday, outclassed, out-fought, out-manoeuvred and out of our depth.

It is not exciting. We all get that.

You want excitement? Look in the mirror when we get those three points at Fulham or West Ham to ensure our survival.

Next season will be the time to criticise if we are still employing the same shape and tactics even though we bought five experienced Prem players during the summer.

We are a Championship level team playing in The Prem. Suarez is coming to Selhurst soon.

Fvck - if that's not exciting enough then you are following the wrong team.

This with great big fvcking bells on.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely
Mile Jedinak

if the Holloway Prem period never happened , we would be a confirmed prem team by now.

I agree totally, that 4-1 loss to now bottom of the table Fulham at home was the most embarrassing game I ever witnessed in my life.

When are some people going to consider the quality of the teams we play at different times? A big reason for the change in the results before and after Holloway was the general standard of the teams we played. We're now in the middle of a spell where we're playing more of the top 9 sides, so it shouldn't be too much of surprise that the current form has dipped. The fact remains that we have only taken one point from a top 9 team - a failure to improve on that could be the most critical factor in our slide into the bottom 3. On the plus side, we only have to play 4 more of them and 3 of those games are at home, so survival is within our grasp. Let's get behind Pulis and the team and do our best to intimidate the teams that come to Selhurst.

Do we deserve to? Who cares? .... Shedloads of teams stay up EVERY year that don't deserve to ... Does entertainment alone qualify one team more than another?
Cardiff and Fulham probably deserve to go down cos of their awful owners. West Brom probably deserve to go down even more, on that basis, but they'll probably just make it.

If we stay up, it WILL be because we would have done enough to deserve to stay up.

To be honest, this season's been the biggest anti-climax ever. When IH took Blackpool up, they had a go and made friends with their attacking style. We didn't do that under him, and since then have tried to bore points out of teams.

I was hoping to see the players who took us up given a chance, but instead we've seen a team of journeymen, mainly players who haven't made it at other Prem teams. I will be sad if we go down, but at least we might see some goals if we do.

Do you mean apart from Speroni, Ward, Moxey, Parr, Delaney, Gabbidon, Bolasie, Jedi, KG, Murray?

Yes - Garvan, Dobbie, Williams, Ramage, Wilbraham. And Murray has only just come back. Better than borrowing the likes of Jerome.

Nobody ever really deserves to stay up do they? that being said looking at the teams in the relegation mix:

Palace - Tricky run in to say the least having to play City, Liverpool and Chelsea still at home doesn't help us however theres at least 2 points to be had optimistically from those 3 fixtures alone. My opinion - SAFE (only just though)

Fulham - Awful football this year, still holding on to dinosaurs like Damien Duff and Dimitar Berbatov who can't cut it anymore how they beat us 4-1 at selhurst i'll never know!? my opinion - RELEGATED

Sunderland - Everybody seems to assume theyre safe because they have 3 games in hand! bearing in mind that 2 of them are City at home and Liverpool away should see them fall further away My opinion - RELEGATED

Cardiff - Where to begin? 2 of their signings have departed the club and gone back to the clubs they were bought from, 4 points adrift and have a clueless owner...i reckon their sacking of Mackay coupled with Solksjaer's in expreience will doom them My Opinion - RELEGATED

Norwich, West Ham and Swansea seem to be pulling out of the wrong end of the table as it's so tight with people dropping points everywhere. It's still wide open but i reckon theres 5 teams fighting for the last spot with Cardiff and Fulham already doomed to championship football next season.

Put it this way if we stay up this year the whole starting 11 and Pulis will rightly be labelled legends. Much like the Hillsborough Hero's.

Did we 'deserve' a point against Newcastle? Southampton? Sunderland? Did we 'deserve' our promotion in the first place? Probably not based on league form, but if last season tells us anything it's that you make your own luck in football and we have a never say die attitude. We did deserve to win at Hillsborough. We did deserve to win at Brighton Man Love Albion and we did deserve to win at Wembley. We always take it to the wire. Why should this season be any different?

Question is, do Palace fans deserve a season of mediocrity where it's all done and dusted in advance and we can sleep a little more easily at night? NOT ON YOUR NELLY!! Otherwise go and support Everton or Southampton or Grampus 8.

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

As we have only scored 19 goals, it's nothing short of a teeny miracle that we have amassed 28 points & are still above the dotted line with 8 games left. Maybe we "deserve" a bit of credit for that small achievement alone.

A massive testament to our defence, and the fact that its far more important in football to not concede goals than to score them.

Not sure its far more important. If you dont score goals you'll never win a match.

I heard a few pundits bounce this theory around at the beginning of the season. They made the point that just about every team that sought survival by spending the real money on proven goal scorers, ended up relegated.

Now, I've not checked the facts & statistics on this, nor am I going to if I'm honest, but it does make sense. It doesn't matter if we score 5 a game, if the opposition bang in 6...

I said it at the beginning, and I'll say it now. I'll take a 0-0 in all our games, if it means we stay up!

Those highlighted just aren't good enough and I'm not certain about Murray. So we don't borrow Jerome, who do we play up front?

I am sorry but the run of fixtures we had has nothing to do with it, Holloway was clearly out of his depth again and the performances showed that. We couldn't score and we conceded 2 goals a game. Losing 4 1 at home to Fulham was ridiculous, as was Swansea, Stoke (Second Half) and Southampton. Would Holloway orchestrate wins away at Hull, Villa, Compete away at Man City and Chelsea, Beat most of the teams we played in January. No way he would have done IMO. Agree with the rest of your post though.

What a stupid post, yes, we will stay up. most likely go to the last game of the season, but hey, that's the joy of supporting Palace. Have faith in the team and management.

We deserve what we get come the final whistle of the final game, much like our promotion last season.

Exactly. If we deserve to stay up then we will stay up.

Personally I think it's too close to call at the moment but I'm happy that with 8 matches to go we still have a chance.

Virtually everyone said we would be relegated, I don't think many pundits would have predicted we would (just) be out of the bottom three at this point of the season.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
