I also cannot see us winning another game simply because we can't score goals. I am just hoping that we will still be in with a shout when we play Fulham on the last day but it doesn't look good.

Of course we can do it. But: * We have some very hard games coming. * We have not taken anything from a top team...yet. * We simply cannot score ... * We WILL rely on ALL 3 teams below us to trip up, which is highly unlikely. Our manager has done a magnificent job, making us hard to beat and the ONLY reason we are still with a chance is him. Remember he was presented with a huge squad of players, none of which he had chosen.

I can see us beating Cardiff, draw with West Ham and a win at Fulham if we start to attack. If we play the way we are atm we are down. Ive been saying for a while we cant draw ourselves to safety.

We havent looked like scoring for hours, the same game plan, cj running his arse off with no one to lay it off too, sitting deep for 80% of the game. 5 points from the final games. Praying 3 other teams continue to be worse than us. Edited by kev64 (23 Mar 2014 9.07am)

I have been saying for a while that I didn't believe we could survive and nothing recently has changed my mind. Our goalscoring record is abysmal and this will cost us in the end - sadly. How many times do you need to be told that the most critical factor is the number conceded NOT the number scored? Both statistics are important and if we do go down it will be the lack of goals scored that was the problem. BUT look at the teams relegated from the PL in the last 10 years and you'll see that it's not the sides that scored the least that get relegated, it's the sides that concede the most. I think we'll be beaten by Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City, and need to focus on beating Villa, west ham, Cardiff and Fulham. We might nick a draw or a cheeky 1-0 against the first three, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Edited by Bitter (23 Mar 2014 10.22am) Few people understand this, conceding the first goal massively increases your chances of losing, conceding a second almost guarantees it. The difference between conceding the first goal and scoring it, is not the same in determining your chances of winning.

Chelsea - 0 That would be enough this season I think. I think we'll beat Cardiff and Villa. Cardiff can't defend at all, and we were almost prolific against them at Selhurst park. Hopefully by the last day we'll be safe.

Yep, it's pretty clear that the Cardiff and Villa games are beyond crucial. I think we need 4-6 points from those games to give ourselves a chance, and simply can't afford to lose to Cardiff. If we pull that off, hopefully there's breathing space to go at the Hammers & Fulham games, and any unlikely bonus we can pick up from the big sides. Whatever happens, the likelihood is it won't be pretty, but no need to write us off with 8 games still to play! We're in there with a fair chance, which looked hopelessly unlikely until TP came in.
