You can't play pretty football in a relegation scrap! Some people on here have no clue.

No-one expects pretty football Penge - just some football now and again would be nice

I think let's re-evaluate next season. If we stay up then we'll buy better players who can knock it about a bit.

Thing is by not even attempting to look to play and create we run the risk of those around us getting results (as WBA did today, as Fulham did today) so these 0-0 draws at Sunderland mean nothing if they pick up three points

We need to take some risks

I agree regarding risks and felt he was too negative at home to Southampton. But away at Sunderland, you have to be defensive.

Sorry Penge but disagree - its not like we have 'easy' home games so away wins are what we need - Sunderland are one of the worst sides we will play ad we should be looking to at least stretch them - we should have lost and but for a post and a shot an inch lower we would have and all because we simply have no game plan other than defend on our own 18 yard box with ten men for the 90 and see what happens.

If we could retain possession and play quickly on the counter t would be different - but we cant

We are setting up not to lose whilst it would seem that those around us are setting up to win - all they need is one win and just to match it we then need 3 draws...Until last week and this weeks tactically abject performances I did actually think we had a fighting chance - now I think that chance is greatly diminished unless it get shaken up.

Hard one this. What's the point of going to see Palace and taking the grandchildren? I'd say entertainment. Now like the Greeks who show two masks for entertainment, one laughing, one crying. That's the nature of entertainment and football is in the entertainment business. Can't say I'm enjoying it much, but at least its real. The USA have produced a football league that will ensure success to all taking part. What say Palace get together with a few other teams (say 10) and form a league with no relegation, but with big grounds with large support. And suppose we ask a similar number in Europe to give us a Euro competition each year. No relegation would encourage the board to invest in good facilities and an' across the board' pay structure with limited transfers to encourage youth. The league could even pick a side representing the best of this league to play other leagues. Or we could continue as we are and test the team against others as a meritocracy. It does mean there are a few 'big' teams with which we will never compete for long....that's football. Love it or leave it.

If I were 2010 and TP keeps us up, i'd give him his £1m bonus and f..k him off.
Get a new manager in early and play some half decent football.
If this dire brand of footie continues into next season under TP, even if we're doing well, this site and Palace fans in general will go into meltdown.

To be honest if this is what it takes to be a botton half premier League team then I seriously don't want it

What we are doing cant even be described as football - the players are limited of course and we cant go gung ho we know that - bit this total anti-football - nah not for me - we have to try to play some football in 90 minutes

How long without a goal now ???

Money is about it - it hopefully safeguards the club if used wisely..no other reason

Are we getting slightly picky?

One of the best opporunities to have consecutive premier league season in the clubs history and we're worrying about short term playing style

Its not pretty, we all know that

But can we not give up that want for 9 games for another season in the PL?

I sounds slightly defeatist but were only Crystal Palace, Prmeier League survival would never we easy, and here, we can't have our cake and eat it.

Long term, i do really see the need for Bannan Williams etc to be integrated though but lets cross that bridge when it comes

I wish I still had enough interest to care about the football being played. I'm not gunna lie, my interest in this season died months ago. It sounds strange, but it doesn't even feel like a Palace team this year, despite having so many players from last year still playing.

I debated with a lot of people on here when Pulis was appointed and I did indeed say that the style of football wasn't an issue for me, my concerns were more about progressing beyond relegation candidates and the neglect of our youth players, who lets be honest, excite us when they break through, even if it is because of their connection to the club.

I think the people that expect us to sign more technically gifted players if we survive need to wake up, Pulis has never and will never change his ways, he will always want big men accompanied by direct wingers and a handy set-piece taker, it's his way and it has worked for him until now atleast. He kept Stoke up numerous times but never even showed intentions in progressing the style of football or players.

Sadly, Pulis is our best chance of survival right now and probably longer term, if you want Premier League football regardless then that's great. However, if you want excitement, rollercoaster seasons, attacking football and exciting youth graduates then prepare yourselves for a loss of love for the game/Palace.

Stoke fans became completely disillusioned with the game and that's why they wanted a change, despite the rest of the footballing world thinking they were ungrateful and mad. They still have the utmost respect for him but he was killing their interest in Stoke, they were bored and needed something fresh, even if it meant a relegation battle, aslong as they tried to take forward steps.

At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference.

Its not about the style as such for me - I don't believe this style is the magic bullet that will help us stay up

A really good post, excellent common sense. We are also realising how much we miss Chamakh. When we see him back and linking up play, we might even see a tad more real football!

Do you want me to regurgitate the stats we've all heard a million times over about points under open playing Holloway and tight, defensive Pulis?

If you were offered at the start of the season that after 29 games we would be 6 points off the top half we all know what your answer wouldve been

Nope we all know that and but for Holloway we would be healthier BUT everyone keeps banging on about Norwich have such and such, Sunderland have such and such and most seem to have us a nailed on 3 points at Fulham..this casual reliance blindly refuses to see we play for the vast majority of games on our own 18 yard line and allow opportunity after opportunity to whoever we play, whether homr or away - Sunderland, a poor side still managed to have chances today which in reality should have gone in whilst we offered nothing going forward

To my eyes our negativity for virtually 90 minutes will not be enough - we are playing not to lose, others are playing to win

A draw is all well and good but if like today WBA and Fulham both pick up 3 points, we then have to find 3 draws to match that result, whilst they will have other oppos for 3 points whilst we go out to defend and then see what happens

We have limitations of course and man for man we are poor in comparison but to go down like this is painful amd if we do how many on here will change their tune and wonder 'what if' we had gone for it more at Sunderland, Cardiff or Fulham ??????
