Maybe - using the Bolasie / Fonte incident as an example - it's the rules that need looking at. Webb didn't issue a red card because he felt that Clyne was getting into a position as the ' last man '. However, if you look at the trip by Fonte in isolation, he clearly didn't believe that to be case, or he wasn't even aware of Clyne's position. Therefore his intention was to take Bolasie out as he believed Bolasie was through on goal, which is what he did. So the punishment didn't really fit the crime. All said and done, if that is the top ref in England it only highlights how poor the standard is at the moment.

Webb wasn't the reason we lost but he was truly awful all afternoon..hugely inconsistent in his decision making, some bizarre calls on what constitutes a foul and what doesnt and his linesmen weren't much cop either - plan of, wait for Howard to blow THEN put the flag up If he is the 'best' we have then heaven help us

Pulis is focusing his ire in the wrong place with this. It's just whinging and won't make any difference because football needs refs. It's incredibly rare that a referee is the reason that a team loses a game - he's pulling a 'Mourinho' here and attempting to deflect the criticism away from his players. Prefer he didn't but it has it's benefits - as long as he's giving them hell on the training pitch and working on ways to get the performances back up.

Indeed Finchers Last week was a combination of wrong game plan and too many midfield players turning performances that would make a pub side blush Webb was still appalling though Last weekend was the worst game of the season for me by miles - although thankfully I did miss Fulham

He's right to lodge a complaint if he feels the quality of refereeing was questionable in its standard. There's a difference between complaining about the referee in the media, and lodging an complaint with the governing body. On the replays from the opposition end I think maybe Webb got it right, but from his position at the time, I think he got lucky in that regards, rather than made a good call. Clyne looked likely to get a challange in, but that doesn't mean that Bolaise wouldn't either have ridden that challange, been brought down or got a shot away. Fonte knew what he was doing, taking one for the team. there was no chance he was going to win the ball, and he knew it. His team were 1-0 going into half time. The rules need to change. Denying a clear goalscoring opportunity in the final third should be a yellow card and a penalty. In the box it should be a red card and a penalty.

What's the point of complaining? The officials weren't responsible for the fact we were outplayed ...and if I'm not mistaken, we are allowed to have more than a couple of shots at the opposition's goal? Webb and linesman had a bad day at the office. It happens!!!!. Let's hope we don't have another bad day of our own making tomorrow. Because if they officals are f**king up, then those problems need to be addressed. Maybe Webb wasn't up to it for reasons that could be addressed. At the end of the season the referee group review complaints and issues raised over the season and try to address them for the next one (such as whether such a decision should have been a red, or whether that was handball).

As i said in my original post, it's the rules that need looking at not just the ref's performance. One way of getting a debate going on the rules is to question their interpretation, as in the case with Webb.

Webb is too busy trying to earn money as a celeb to be any good as a ref.I went home wondering if I was alone in thinking he was crap so was pleasantly surprised that so many agreed.

I wonder how many times TP will complain to the refereeing body when Palace get a bad decision in their favour? Like a player makes a mistake, what can anybody do about that afterwards. Sweet FA. Move on and win the next poor decision.
I realise you playing devils advocate but as I said earlier, if these things don't get challenged then where does it end. My feeling on the tackle on Bolasie was a yellow was the right thing but I'm not a ref. For us, never, for the big guns whenever they want/need it, just look at when Liverpool were let into Europe, forcing us out. If you consider my question of when will the authorities overturn a decision on investigation of a complaint, then you, my friend are not offering a valid answer and are playing devil's advocate.

Webb stuffed us again in the Fulham-Newcastle match, denying Newcastle a clear penalty when Krul's shot hit Heitinga's arm. The shot was goal-bound and Heitinga's arm was out-stretched. It was far more of a pen than the one given against Moxey in the Palace home defeat by Spurs. I originally thought Webb had decided it was accidental handball but in fact he admitted he hadn't even seen it. That was because he was badly positioned with about four players between him and the incident. He was probably thinking about his next four-grand after-dinner gig at the time.

He may have no f***ing hair , but he is no Colinas. He had another stinker yesterday. Was good but not anymore, too many refs in this division think they are the dogs bollocks....
