As bad as we were yesterday how many more shots would we have had if there weren't so many of the "acceptable" fouls to stop our attacks? Vidic last match and Lovgren this got away with things because of who they are rather than what they did (you can also add Young to that but for a different reason). Pulis has kept quiet about this but really a subtle and sarcastic comment would not go amiss, something alomg the lines of we must look after the internationals in the physical matches. Webb should have another look at yesterday and apologise to Palace as some decisions were game changing ones (a foul in the middle third can be as important as slide rule pass). Staying up has now become much more difficult and with TP changing our shape since Joe Ledley became part of the 11 let's hope this starts to show benefits soon.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Has anybody actually hear or seen the reason Howard Webb has given for not sending Lovren off, because it beats me.

His lino was crap too made two big offside calls against Palace that I knew were wrong at the time and TP has confirmed that, Murray was clear through on goal for the first one. His shorts were too tight as well. Effing show-off,right up himself.

Spoke to a friend who has not long qualified as a ref, his view (from the TV pictures) was that it was a clear red card. Prevented a goal scoring opportunity, was reckless and was from behind. He even quoted the para numbers to me, mind you he is a Pompey supporter and we were playing Southampton so his judgement might be a little off.

He was dreadful and has been ever since the World Cup final that, to be fair, was an impossible game to referee. The best ref in the land is Mike Dean, bit of annoying manner and face but he consistently gets big decisions right, never has bias, and won't make friends or bottle big decisions.

He had a shocker, and my Saints mates agreed. The non-red card was obviously terrible, but I couldn't believe it when Lallana fell over in the first half, Jedinak fell over him, and then Webb gave a free-kick!
It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - John Bostock (Nov 2007) |

I thought he had a poor game, aided and abetted by one of the assistant refs. Inconsistency in decision making is frustrating enough match to match, ref to ref, but Webb was inconsistent throughout the 90 minutes. The best refs are the ones you barely notice and don't even recall their names. Webb has an ego the size of QPR's debt and thinks he's on a par with the players as part of the spectacle.

It has been mentioned that some saints fans think some ref decisions were not good. If Palace won I'd say the same to oppo fans! And that the ref has allowed too many game checking fouls to go unpunished. What I want is for Palace fouls of that variety to go the same way. That's how the modern player stops the other side and the players have to convince the ref of the innocence or triviality of the foul. Once Palace do that, by using the ref 'properly' I think things will get better.

Howard Webb is Mr.Magoo reincarnated! He doesn’t make the big decisions often enough and somehow this hardly ever gets flagged up on MoTD/SKY etc. Seems he’d rather let the game flow then put his neck on the line and actually make a big decision that could impact the game, happens too often for my liking.
