Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

thing is, the tv revenue is the big earner, clubs could survive in the prem with no fans at the game, the reason we want 40000 at game is more to generate atmosphere to help us win and stay up so we get big money from tv every seson, drop prices, build the stadium, and they will come!

Build a bigger ground and more people will come history tells you that. Brighton being an example could not fill a 5,000 seater now regularly fill a 30,000. We have easily over 60,000 fans in Croydon alone Plus many more from Bromley, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and the rest of South London, I know around 30 Palace fans in Chelmsford, there's more of us out there then we think and if we can get a few prem seasons under our belt and redevelop Selhurst we could hit 40,000 easily. Remember Millenium stadium and Wembley, Sold out 35,000 odd tickets in about 3 days, plus many more palace fans were buying tickets in the other sides end. We took more then West Ham and Watford. Leicester and Sheffield UTD at the Old Wembley we also took more. People actually underestimate our fanbase. Last year 17,000 Average, 2,000 saved for away fans plus the 4,000 odd seats covered in the Arthur Wait all year for Segregation purposes. Granted the Arthur was not always full but that's due to the poor quality of facilities. The main stand was relatively Full all season and the Holmesdale and Whitehorse was rarely empty. Last year we sold our whole ground out for Home fans except for the Arthur wait which is simply because nobody wants to sit there. (Got my season ticket there next season)

Edited by bexleydave (28 Feb 2014 1.09pm) Edited by bexleydave (28 Feb 2014 1.10pm) Good try Bexleydave but look at it differently. Its not a question of % more actual taking figures. Palace can only do this once they have a much larger stadium. Say Palace need £1m to break even, then that's 30,000 paying £x or 40,000 paying £x less. But Palace have to get the building up first. Once you know the break even figure, then the division to work out the ticket price comes second. That is of course, unless someone at the club wants to take a chance at getting more profit than they required in the first place. That's when you start to go backwards. Bit like the Energy companies at the moment. Do we provide a service all can afford or pay the shareholders and executives bigger bonuses? As a supporter I'd go for the former. What are you, supporter or shareholder? Simples

Palace is situated in the most populated, densely inhabited part of Europe (expect Holland). There is firm history of Palace attracting high gates. Like newly constructed roads, the traffic will come. Just needs the commercial will. Oh, and a realistic pricing policy. This.....but, to sustain it Premiership football is imperative.
