It's a long-standing joke in our house. It's a game we play in the car on the way home to Hackney on a Saturday/Sunday when we get caught up in the football crowds leaving the Emirates on the way back from doing the weekly shopping up on the Holloway Road. Now, I hope I'm a reasonable judge of character, the changing moods of friends and family etc, the atmosphere when entering a room. BUT, we 3 Palace supporters have never been able to tell from the mood of the Arsenal crowd at 5pm whether they have won, lost or drawn. Absolutely nothing. Now I compare that to the beaming expressions of fans walking back down the Holmesdale on a win day. Says SO much to me.

I did a YTS with a Brentford supporter about 20 years ago and still look out for the Brentford scores. When Trotta missed the penalty v Doncaster I thought of him and I have not seen him for twenty years.
One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A |

Good day to you all. I happened to be offered free tickets to the Arsenal game yesterday and just wanted to offer some views for your entertainment..... Firstly, forget the game. Palace huffed and puffed, but it was unlikely you were going to win. Cameron Jerome might run around alot, but I don't think he's exactly the best striker in the world. But hey-ho, I'm delighted to see you guys scrap in the Premier League against these big clubs. So, the reason I am here? Well, the atmopshere you guys generated was, frankly, fantastic. All credit to the fans who made some noise, because if you guys hadn't, I think I would have nodded off. As a Brentford fan, I am used to seeing fans get behind the team, suffer the grave disappointments, yet still scream and shout in support of the team. WTF? These sad kunts at Arsenal have no idea what football really is, and their contempt for smaller clubs is exasperating. The comment that simply did my nut in was the "why are they singing, why don't they just watch the game?" Oh.......my........god, where do I slit my wrists? So, as far as I give one, if these so-called big clubs have fans like that, why don't they feck off to a European Super League and let the real teams, real fans, etc, battle it out? English football deserves better than this breed of fan. Anyway, got that off my chest......on here, on the Brentford forums, and on my Facebook. Congrats for being proper football fans who get behind their team. I was really impressed, even if you do need a drum!!! I'll stop letting it eat me up now, and despite not having much affinity for Palace before, I'll certainly raise my glass to you and wish you the very best for the future. Best ones from Brentford
What does irritate me about them is the fact they think have got some god given right to be the top dog in the Premiership. Perhaps this might be their year, but if they do crash and burn going down the final furlong i for one will be over the moon, again..... Sorry mate, but their lack of silverware has nothing to do with their contempt for smaller teams. It's because they're sterile, soulless, born of Sky TV, never experienced terracing and being out with the lads. They're the middle class of football, and they're welcome to it.

I've left games laughing my head off after heavy defeats. Win, lose or draw, we're so used to bitter disappointment that we come to expect it. We've picked up 48 points out of the last 54 available, and yet we still think we're going to cock it up at the end of the season!

Best ones from Brentford Strange went to see Brentford twice last season with my neighbour who's been going for fifty years. All I heard was people moaning around me,no singing,no atmosphere at all.

I don't agree, Highbury was one away fixture that i always went to, great terracing throughout. Things changed once the Emirates was built and the 10 year silverless streak really got going.

Best ones from Brentford Sorry, caught this one very late. Perfect narrative about the difference between a proper football supporter who has their team in their heart and the plastic glory hunter type who boo their team if they lose two games in a row.Pathetic and an embarassment to proper Arsenal fans.
