I thought Bolasie and Punch had worse games...not to mention Jedi. I thought our midfield were wasteful in possession and for the first time I was actually frustrated with some of them.

Bolasie and Punch have taken some stick for yesterday, but when we were chasing the game they both improved dramatically. Neither one of them is a defensive winger and minus the shackles they will both cause problems. Jedi's short passing was as usual awful. but he cleans up so much in the middle that it is something you just have to live with.
Jerome works hard and did again yesterday, but for about the fourth time this season he had the chance to change a game and he has failed every time. He cannot finish and his hold up play is regularly very poor. Yes he was isolated, that's why it is so important that the ball doesn't keep coming straight back. I hate being mean spirited about any Palace player, but he has to make way for Chammers, with Pep, Bannan or Jonny in the hole behind him.

I suggest a new "FFS":

"FFS Jerome" - the umpteenth time he's failed to hit the side of a barn with a banjo.

The Arsenal match was by no means the first I've launched into a tirade at his complete lack of finishing. "Not that kind of striker" = "Wrong kind of leaves". Sorry, but he's useless - should have sent him back to Stoke to screw up their season, rather than ours. I don't care about his workrate, or effort, what I care about is his goal rate - he's there to score goals. Will be annoyed to even see him on the bench for the rest of the season.

Our alternatives, however? Let me be honest here - many, many people on here are pinning our hopes on Murray. Do we know he'll cut it in the PL? How long will he take to find form? How about confidence? He's been out a long time, and clearly everyone has our survival (or at least the part of it that comes from scoring goals) pinned on him. Pressure....

We are lacking pace up front,Gayle has got to start on saturday.
With him and Ince should inject the pace that has been lacking and goals.

Except this season has proved that Chammers' best position is in the hole himself. He's not the man to lead the line.

Yes very good point...everyone knows it takes quite a few matches to recover the best form...so unfair to expect that of Murray, but at least we have two goal scoring midfielders in Ince and Ledley who will make more chances and hopefully finish them as well. They'd better have, since there isn't a plan B!

Bolasie I can live with: he keeps on running and running and gets dispossessed a lot, but like a fly against a slightly open window, eventually he finds the gap: like he did to set up Puncheon's goal last week and like he did vs Arsenal to get to the by-line to put the cross in that CJ should have scored.

Puncheon, however, was like a moody 13 year old again, not putting in the effort and not chasing balls he had a chance of reaching, and moaning at his fellow players a lot.

Bannan on the other hand made a massive difference and actually enabled us to retain possession and get go forward for the first time in the match. Jedi and KG do not offer this. For a counter-attacking side, we can't afford to have KG involved. He repeatedly turned his back on promising counter-attacking positions and initiated a passing stream back to Jules to lump in the air for a 50-50, which was actually an 80-20 in Arsenal's favour.
