No rule, but it's very risky and irresponsible not doing so. 2 clubs in the PL have had to use all 3 keepers already this season and another 10 haven't used the same keeper every game, so presumably most had their third choice on the bench. If we don't name a 3rd choice in the squad we would not be allowed to make use of the 'emergency' rules if we had two injuries.

There simply is no logical reason why we would name Garvan or Thomas in the squad ahead of Price or Alexander as third choice keeper when we have plenty of decent young outfield players who could take their place on the bench if needed.
