I wish, as I said on another thread, that Parrish would shut the f*&k up. That man is a haircut in search of a camera and a microphone. Moody has been hired as the expert in the transfer market/man responsible for making things happen so it might be an idea for Parrish to let someone who actually has a skill set in the area of player movements handle media questions on the subject. Otherwise, what's the point of having Moody? More nonsense from you Syd. Steve Parish is the boss and controls the money - not Iain Moody so is the main man. Also, he is much better with dealing with the media than Moody whose job is not speaking to the media. I want our chairman to speak to the fans via the media - otherwise how will we know what is going on!
We do need additions though. SP knows it, hence we're trying, but they won't be 'big.'

afterall was it not he and the last manager who managed to royally f*** up the last window and sign a bucketload of players who are not good enough? £16.5 Million on players and what have we got in return ? This is a minority view I know but some of the sixteen brought in have ( in my view) proved decent signings, including Chamakh, Guedioura, Puncheon, Mariapa, Bannan, and yes, even Gayle! Possibly Hunt as well, when he returns from his injury. Mind you, at least half have or will disappear without trace

I disagree as the point that both syd and I have made at various times is that Steve Parish is not good at dealing with the media. What little has come out from Iain Moody is positive yet almost everything that Steve Parish says is negative and his favourite words seem to be can't and won't

I'm not sure that everyone will agree with your list but Chamakh that every newspaper derided as a complete waste of space has been quite a revelation and one wonders what he could have done this season if he had received better service

You only have to look at the clumsy way he plays his hand in public (for instance, "I'll do what I want" ) to grasp that, regardless of what I personally think of him. A common problem in successful small businessmen is that they're often not half as sharp as they think, once they're removed from the business in which they gained their success. If Parrish didn't have three other partners and owned Palace on his own, I would be seriously worried. Edited by sydtheeagle (19 Jan 2014 6.05pm)

Now, I don't dispute that Marange was one, and perhaps Alexander and Grandin who were frees. But that's still a pretty decent average isn't it? Personally I would say almost inspired, a fantastic return on £16.5m if you compare with other Prem clubs. When will the knocking stop, we are out of the relegation zone FFS, enjoy.

Syd, can you make us a list on here as to why you dont like Steve.. So we can try to understand where your coming from then tell us how you would have conducted yourself and the business of running a professional football club if you were him.. so we will all be clear on how it should be done so it can then be circulated around all the clubs as a blueprint for success.

I'd say this: I grew up when the football people did the talking (and trust me, Bert Head didn't do a lot of that.) So when I want to listen to what's happening at my football club I want to hear the football people update me. I don't pay money to watch the chairman at work every week. To me, some figures in a club should be seen and not heard. The first chairman to really break that rule and become a largely public figure was Ron Noades and (while I did broadly like Ron) I don't think that was a change for the better. Sadly, today egotists buy football clubs and think that because they've arrived in a bit of money, they're entitled to centre stage. There was a time when it was enough for owners to get their glory behind the closed doors of the boardroom and in the local business community. Personally, I like John Henry, Liverpool's owner (to give one example) because he's not forever trying to hog the limelight. He lets his manager get on with being the voice and face of the club. Yes, Palace are a small business and Liverpool are a big one but I still want to hear TP and not a grown-up wide boy with a bad haircut who has nothing to do with the football itself. Well, you did ask.

With your apparent 'armchair politician' persona and YOUR need to air your views i doubt strongly that you would be the 'quiet type' of chairmen behind the scenes. I think TBH syd and you can admit it on here its ok we are all friends here I think you see yourself in Steve and thats whats hurting you.

I don't think the people who work for me would say that, (but I'll put you in touch with one or two of them if you want to ask them what I'm like as a boss). I can give you a shopping list of my faults and failures -- I really can. I'm not short of either. But I'm not at all like Steve. At least I don't think so.
