Great news to have him signed on a long contract.

Now needs to work especially hard in training (not saying he isn't already) on shooting, generally scoring goals, final ball and strength.

Jonny Williams signs a new four and a half year contract!

Best news this season. With a long contract he can help keep the club in the Prem. If Palace are relegated his sale price could be immense. Thats how Zaha should have played it.

It was exactly what Zaha did! the season before we sold Wilf, his contract was running low, when Newcastle were sniffing around, and his contract was re-done on a four year basis. Quite obviously so that if he were sold, the club could command a much higher fee, as they did.

Last week mysteriously, Cardiff are in for JW and he's this that and everything else, hey presto, he now has a new long term contract.

I'd love to think he's signed away his life to us and he'll commit to the long term saving of CPFC but really?

JW still had ages left on his old contract and the new one is only effectively a one year extension. The main differences are probably a pay rise, a better sell-on clause and an increased buy-out clause.

Nothing like the Zaha case.

None of us really know the potential of JW as he has never had a long enough spell in the 1st team to be able to demonstrate just how good he could/will be. However, I have seen enough to want to see more of him and I am glad he has signed a new deal.

And bar the length outstanding prior to re-signing, how was Zaha's different?

Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother... Simon Jordan

You were quite right in saying that Zaha's was re-signed so that we could cash in on him if an offer was made. That's not the case with Williams signing this new extension, he had three and a half years remaining on his existing contract so he still would command a decent fee. I don't think this extension has anything to do with Cardiff's approach and, if it does, it's certainly not to jack the transfer fee up.

Edit: reading back my previous post I sound a bit supercilious, that wasn't my intention, so apologies.

Axl - I seem to recall you were spot on when Jedi first started and was regularly slaughtered by fans, you being a football brain spotted his talent when others doubted. You are as pointed out by a number of replys wrong on this occasion. jW will emerge once he has a decent run, have faith Axl !
