Worst one I can remember was Maine Road. Being got at by gangs from all those little Coronation St types roads and missiles hitting me on the head during the game. The Valley 1979 - that was bad. Fights all during the game in their end and after. Missed a big beating by a whisker there.

First time I realised that some fans were a bit rude was when I was eleven in the Whitehorse Lane end waving me scarf in the faces of some Southampton gentlemen who told me 'either the scarf gets put away or they'll do me'

The Old Den. Cold Blow Lane. Fvck I must have thought I was immortal or something thinking about it now. Palace loud and proud. Another escape.

Could you not walk all the way round the valley then.

No don't think so. Pretty sure there was fencing similar to The Goldstone.

I remember the valley in 77/78 and i'm sure you could walk all the way around it ? For me any seaweed game up to and including the present day.

Could well be. No wonder then there was so much fighting that night during our promotion run in '79.

Some great posts, quite a few where I can say I was there was never a main boy but had my moments

Orient away West ham turned up and we had some real fun, unfortunately someone had a glass smashed on his head in the pub after and it all went off big time!
The pub had a lot of it's windows put in after that, and a few in the pub got a kicking anyone remember Junior?

Qpr away 82 was mental only 19 was one of the 1st on the plastic pitch with Bobby K, I vividly recall Pat T on the roof to our left braces and all urging Palace fans to invade the pitch After the game all round the bush area it was going off everywhere.

We got up to all sots of mischief but I wont go into too many details about the Seaweed and Clown scum but lots of fun over the years.
Got nicked a few times at Clowns and go away from Old bill at the Gallstone

Someone mentioned Reading, they came to Selhurst as a newly promoted team loads of chaps up for kicking off.
Some of us had a pretty bad tear up with them near Selhurst train station enough said

Palace had it outside with a top Birmingham firm in 89, decent turn out that day as was QPR away in the cup.
Burnley away on a Monday night FA cup replay was a crack.

Any one remember Oldham away ? Back of the Brighton end at the Goldstone ground was well lively one year.Luton was always a good tear up.Ipswich,Leicester, too many to go into.

All circa 1980'S....The good old days

Yeah that was some night Kerm's, the line of old bill between the two sets of fans in the charlton end, running fights after, all the way to Blackheath, happy days, well you know what i mean.

It was not the violence but the tension in the air that it could kick off at any moment that made the games exciting.

Palace v Brighton away was always an adventure, getting bricked outside the station on the way in. Standing on the bridge over the station on the way out Palace and the weed all mixed together not knowing who's who until the kindly station bloke told all passengers for London to stand on the left and Passemgers for Brighton on the Right. Now nicely separted it all kicked of big time.

The Birmingham fancy dress game was naughty.

Bournemouth away 80's Someone let a firework off which got stuck in the roof of the main stand, about 6 cops came into the away end to arrest someone. But got trapped as someone shut the gate and they got a right kicking. Also I believe a stward got stabbed and may have died. Not one of Palaces finest moments. But there was a great keystone cops moment outside in the park as the cops came chasing after one of the Palace boys. You could here the Benny Hill music playing.

Ipswich away. When my mate was asked where the station was and the Pr*ck replied I don't know mate I am from London. The bloke then pulled a knife. Lots of running throught the streets of Ipswich then ensued as we could not find our cars.

Yeah, our little gang got jumped on and scattered by a much bigger Charlton mob and one of us - the only scarfer - got a right kicking. Over in the blinbk of an eye but there must have been 10 of them practising their shooting skills on his abdomen.

Idiot still wore his scarf to away games the following season
