Yeah, but the Queen doesn't ask for every member of the SAS and SBS to accompany her or for her corgis to have bullet-proof baskets every time she goes stateside, does she?

So your point is that George Bush, the world's number one terrorist target and leader of the Earth's most powerful nation, doesn't justify security beyond a flak jacket and a community bobby? I can't stand the man either but let's be realistic.

Yeah, but £5M, fourteen thousand police officers, 250 armed US agents, a 30+ motorcade and a mobile blood bank, all just so Blair can lick Dubya's arse when he gets here? Not at all excessive then?

Ask me about Ronald de Boer.

What would you suggest then, cut a few corners and risk the man being assasinated on British soil? or end all visits by heads of state?

The 250 armed US agents & 30+ motorcade are fair enough if that's what they think they need, but 14,000 police. What are they all going to do?

That's just the ramblings of a madman

Did you think this was the "True Romance" thread?

Me unsubtle?
Me, with a jar of vaseline on the bedside table?
Me, with a specially adapted milking stool from the sex shop at Frankfurt airport?
Me, sitting in J block without any knickers on?
Surely not!

Too right. 14,000 police for his visit is just taking the p**s.

I think this is my fault Kav:

Are there any pics of young Bexter?? - As Penge says there seems to be a lot of Bexter flirting going on. Is it the fact that she's one of the only female posters over 21 who's slightly more subtle than Lilly and Florence?

Hey Florence only joking. Whereabouts are you in Block J ( there's no match for a fortnight so maybe best to go home in the meantime?) The only woman I've seen in there (and I use the term 'woman' loosely) is this non-stop eating machine who shouts out strange comments all match and befriends anyone foolish enough to make eye contact. I hope to God that's not you as the only reason she'd be knickerless was if she bought some edible ones and got a bit peckish after polishing off her 4 Sainsbury's bags full of cakes.
Anyway....... this milking stool......

Oh and as Lions4Dinner always says - "No Offence"

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.

Just read on BBC website that it's 14,000 police shifts, which split over 4 days means only 3,500 per day, which isn't quite as bad (though it still seems like overkill to me!

What is pathetic, is schoolkids bunking off school to go on this march. What do children know about the world, politics, life in general to have any kind of say or judgement or to be taken seriously? I think it's irresponsible to take very young children along because they may get hurt and it's outragous to brain wash them at such a young age.

Whatever happened to playing football, chasing girls and playing computer games? And to bunk off school for something they haven't a Scooby about is stupid. Well it's a day out I suppose. Their loony-left parents probably made them a packed lunch too, with glass bottle drink, just in case the police "attack" them. Or do the parents know they're going at all?

I think you're being a bit harsh there Penge. When I was a teenager I was a lot more vociferous about the causes I believed in than I am now.

Admittedly I have fallen into the apathy that seems to afflict most of us these days (particularly Palace fans) but so far as I am concerned anyone who has the bottle to stand up for what they believe in gets my vote (so that counts Labour out then)
