Worst view pre-Hillsborough has gotta be a tie between Kenilworth road and The Den (old) 80% of the pitch at best and that through wire fencing with spikes. Plus, the getting out alive scenarios. Fookin great fun. I miss it.

Portman Road used to be like that as well Kerms with the way they laid out the cages you had the devils own seeing the goalmouth.Barnsley's Oakwell should get another nomination as the most freezing ground ever....with Bradford a close second.

You know what, Sash. I was in one of the Portman Road pens not long before Hillsborough - as you probs - and we were in the middle of a slightly swaying heaving crush which for a few seconds made me and my mates stop and look at each other. It didn't feel right and I had been on terracing hundreds and hundreds of times by then. Crushes were fun. This one wasn't. Rectified itself a minute or so later with peeps moving around a bit but me ribs weren't half nearly broken. All of them. Absolutely packed the Palace end was. Sardines.

abbey stadium was the pits, saw tony evans score there back in the 80s (miracle) think we won as well. Also The Dell and Baseball Ground where you were standing below ground level

Victoria Ground for Stoke was pretty bad. Also the Manor Ground for Oxford was basically standing in the open on a concrete block.

Went to a wessex premier league game at Hayling United a while ago. Don't think you can even csll it a ground they just play on a field behind Hayling college, even at that level that's piss poor!

Bloomfield Road, Blackpool for me. It’s a lot better now, but the FA Cup 3rd Round tie there in 2003 was a pretty dire experience as I remember. I think it was an evening game (or maybe it just felt like an evening game as it went dark early with it being January) and being by the sea it was freezing. I’ve never been so cold at a match before or since.

But it wasn’t just the weather. The pitch was marked out in the ‘top left hand corner’, if you will, of the field so the left-hand touchline and the far goal-line were positioned nicely in front of the L-shaped stand with the Blackpool fans while the near goal-line was about half a mile away up the field from the Palace end (at least that's how I remember it). The stand to our right was unoccupied and looked set for the knacker's yard. Think it was only the bird droppings holding it together (if only that old stand could have spoken! I bet it had seen some sights in its day!).

Tommy Black's two goals made it all worthwhile though as we won the tie 2-1. We then got Liverpool in the next round and beat them 2-0 at Anfield in the replay, one of my best Palace memories ever

Must give an honorary mention to Exeter FC. Their fans are actually proud of the fact that they have probably ther worst away end in the entire league. Has to be seen in the flesh to appreciate how awful it really is.

And it pisses down almost every game....

The away at Grimsby was fab - It has standing in front with seats, (like a mini pre all seater Arfur) behind but the seats werent 'raised' they just graduated up with the rest of the terracing so those who coughed up the extra couple of quid just saw a forest of heads and backs - which given Grimsby routinely thumped us back in the 80's was probably a good thing

Horrible ground.
Arrived v.late & old bill made me & 3 Gooners I'd persuaded for an evening jolly, go in the home end.
George Graham missed a pen, last kick of the match.

Not the worst ground I've ever been to, but Aldershot a few years back in a friendly involved us walking through a forest to get to the away end.

All I can say is, thank God Brighton have never played away at Aldershot.

Only been doing away days for the last couple of years but my two worst are Burnley and scunthorpe.

Burnley is just one massive dump. Not only is the place itself an absolute hole, but even the people look weird. They just look slightly odd and degenerate, like they've all been shagging one another's sisters for too many years.

scunthorpe is the worst actual ground I've been to, although when Danns hit that last minute winner I didn't care. Was far, far too drunk that day.
