I wonder if the fact that Trump has given a lot of money for the corrs in the past will impinge on relationships when the trumpster visits the Tory / DUP coalition when on his state visit

We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

They probably would have if they hadn't taken an absolute pasting themselves. DUP had 8 seats already. May didn't say if I lose 6 seats I will stay PM and do a deal with the DUP. If the SNP hasn't taking a pasting Tories would have lost over 20 seats. Ultimately her soundbites are now biting her.

Now that the results are virtually all in, what is evident is that c.55% of votes cast were in favour of rejecting austerity. That now is clear and unequivocal. 10 points clear. Theresa May now has no mandate for virtually anything but certainly no mandate for further cuts. This is certainly a victory for those who believe that such policies damage our economy and our vital public services. I'm disappointed Labour didn't win, but it would have been like Lazarus if they had and clearly Corbyn outperformed expectations enormously. Given many seats labour didn't win have gone from safe to marginal another election this year would provide a genuine opportunity for a labour victory and would allow Corbyn to be much more ambitious in targeting those now marginal seats. The DUP are a revolting group of people with a horrible record on women's rights and LGBT equality. Not to mention their links to paramilitary loyalist groups. Not surprised May has handed them the balance of power in what can only be described as a weak and desperate move. It's almost tragic to watch May's demise from strong and stable to deluded power clingeronerer. House of Cards pales in comparison. Thing is I worry that no good will come of it all.

I'm worried about the same thing. It could even be a disaster if she hangs on and delivers the poor Brexit deal she likely will.

******CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT ******* Thus leaving the remainers to have the brexit they want (since they still actually have to have one, at this point in time anyway) and bypassing the poisoned chalice that David Cameron left behind.

For balance, I think there are quite a few possibilities with Shami Chakrabhati too. Cute and elfin and she'd probably suck you out like a water pump. Bit of a dream threesome, actually.

That has crossed my mind already. When we voted leave I was wondering how they might conspire to reverse it while appearing to stick to the 'will of the people'.
