This is a rather surprising attitude from a man who thinks that the country should be subjected to mass immigration. We have an increasing population blocking up our roads in London and the South East. Don't get too smug. It's coming your way soon enough. White flight will only increase. When have I ever suggested we should be subjected to mass immigration? What I have said is that we don't really have any, and that the term is misused. Your persistent desire to divide people by the colour of their skin is really pretty distasteful. I would much, much rather have some new arrivals come and live here, who are decent and hard-working, than anyone with your attitude, whatever their skin colour. In fact, I am in the process of letting one of my flats to someone exactly like that. It would have been a pleasure to refuse you, after an interview.

Not for nimbys and hypocrites. If anyone missed it here's a great video on these types of people from the New York Times on the difference between what people say they support and what they actually do for themselves in life. Personally I can abide most politics as long as it's honest and its aims are peaceful. Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Nov 2021 1.56pm)

It is then such a pity that so many on the right aren't. You have only to look at the events at the Capitol in January, and the behaviour of the Trump supporters both then, and in trying to make false claims about the election to know that. Not a lot of honesty or peace involved there. Look at Orban, his dishonest regime and the violent way he deals with opponents. Look further back into political history, and it's littered with violent right wing dictators. Yes, the left too sometimes, but generally in a response to oppression.

Look no further than your previous post. "White flight will only increase". Every time you mention "whiteness" you divide people by the colour of their skin. Why not, Londoner flight? Or retiree flight? Or middle class flight? No. For you, it's white flight. Division by colour.

So you speak urdu? No, but I don't need to. They are from Poland. Don't speak Polish either, but as they are proudly learning English it's not a problem. I attended a citizenship ceremony yesterday in which a number of new citizens swore allegiance to the Crown and received a welcome from the Queen's representative, the Lord Lieutenant. It was quite moving to see the emotion and genuine pride in their achievement. Good people who will work hard to serve their adopted country and hugely grateful for the opportunity.

It is amusing that you object to a phrase like White flight, when I'm sure you would have no problem with Black Lives Matter or the MOBO Awards or a whole host of other examples. You don't even like tourists coming to Cornwall. You are the worst hypocrite that ever used these boards.

If you bothered to actually read what I write, I have often said that there should be no use of skin colour as a descriptive, by anyone. I don't do it. I would prefer the campaign to be "All lives matter". Others do though. They don't, though, do it in the way you do. They come at it with a plea for equality and fairness. You come at it from a position of superiority and entitlement. They seek to heal. You seek to divide. Everyone in Cornwall, bar a tiny handful, loves the tourists. Much of the economy depends on them. For 45 weeks of the year we have the place largely to ourselves and whilst those 7 weeks can become tricky in the busiest places, we just avoid them. I know beaches where we can be alone all year round, and walks we can do, in splendid countryside where we see no-one else. If you wouldn't enjoy that, then I fear you are the hypocrite.

Pretty unique. People who deal with tourists generally don’t think too much of them except as an opportunity to gouge money.

I'd like you to tell us all who I want to divide? It is a ridiculous bit of reductionism on your part. There are many reasons why mass immigration has been a disaster for this country. You banging on with the same old tropes won't alter that fact. Only those who insist on being identified by their skin colour or religion wish to divide. I do neither. I observe the realities of 21st century Britain which you appear to be in denial about.

That's a genuine question, by the way, as it doesn't match my experiences at all. I witnessed a Brexit Party celebration on 31st Jan that was pretty scary, but I guess you get those types everywhere.
