Corbyn took over a party which was a sh*t show. It was ruined in Scotland, was losing drastically in the North and in Wales, its membership was on the decline, it had no direction or vision and was full of gormless careerists at the head. Last night, in the face of the most brutal media campaign in history, he brought pride back to the party again. The biggest vote swing since Attlee, winning in seats like Crewe, Portsmouth and Plymouth...white working class seats, while making gains in Wales, Scotland and the North and firming up his base in the South. But he's done more than that. He has envigorated millions who previously felt out of touch with politics. Not just the young, but lots of working class and lower middle class voters who saw hope in his manifesto and promises. This, and I really believe it, is just the beginning. We now have a two party system in which one party is an active mass movement, while the other is humiliated and relying on a declining mainstream media to keep its position in power. The Tories have a terrible social media policy (if they have one at all). They could learn a few lessons from this campaign about engaging voters.

The "Money-tree" believers. And those who believed that £48Billion of pledges could be raised by 5% of the population and by 'Corporation Taxes' rising from 19% - 26% which would have an adverse affect on the very businesses which generate wealth, jobs etc.Total fantasy economics and people fell for it.

The electorate voted for Brexit ! Theresa May called the election to strengthen her hand in the negotations by seeking a larger majority in the commons. She did it for the country NOT for party political reasons despite what the 'Comrades' in Labour and the other opposition parties say. Unerstatement to say that last night's result was not she wanted, nor the country needed as it goes into crucial and complex Brexit negotations. Hogwash. She had a 24 point lead 'in the polls' and had people like David Davis in her ear calling for an election because they felt confident. This election was about an opportunistic power grab. She had a workable majority and was backed by everyone except the tiny lib dems and a handful of 'remainers'. Both of those have strengthened their positions with this catastrophic 'own goal'. She tried to play the electorate and they saw through it.

JC has done an amazing job people will feel much more confident about voting labour again. Even for the disgusting rag that it is the Daily Mail went too far IMO.

Apart from getting a bj from Susannah Reid this is Corbyns best day ever. He is regarded as a hero despite losing by 57 votes to a woman who everyone thinks had a shocking night and he doesn't have to implement his sweet shop manifesto. Go Jezza

I have a retired, elderly neighbour who was treasurer of the local branch of the Conservative party. He gave it up when his wife suffered a stroke and became bed-bound at home. He paid for twice daily health care visits until his savings went below the £23,000 cut-off, the authorities now pay. The proposal to take his house value into account was going to make him abstain - he even considered voting Labour. If May managed to alienate people like him, think of how many others she alienated.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

What was lies was telling the electorate that they could spend £48Billion whilst recouping it from just 5% of the population and a 19-26% increase in 'Corporation Tax'.A plethora of pledges which they knew they could not honour.Economic chaos. I wish some of our 'Big Hitters' had concentrated on this during the campaign.Fantasy economics just weren't really exposed.

It was truly astonishing that the proposed that before an election. It was like they were trying to lose.

His Labour party were still 58 seats behind the Conservatives and with less share of the vote. They cannot get enough seats to form a majority with the help of other parties. Sad to admit that rather than Corbyn doing what you call an "Amazing Job" we were the architects of our own downfall.
