Did you vote or spoil the paper, or not waste vital pipe time on it? I felt it was my duty to participate in the democratic process so I drew a knob on it. It had an arrow pointing to the present incumbent. The c*nt got re-elected so I hope they didn't interpret it as a vote.

Nope. She's a car crash. No argument. She's also still Prime Minister and Corbyn isn't. Theresa May is unquestionably damaged by this election on the back of a poor manifesto and a very poor and ineffective campaign, the worst I can remember.Lessons must and will be learned by this. But at the end of the day she is leader of a party which got the most votes and the most seats (58 more than Labour), she is the PM, and we had the ludicrous argument put forward by Corbyn and McDonnell that Labour could form a minority Government ! Looks like a bumpy road ahead.

The purpose of Mrs May calling this election was to unify the country behind her brexit negotiation the result shows that the country does not want this. It was not an ordinary 5 years have passed election but one she called for a purpose and that is clear by the result not what people want. How does it leave the UK but massively disadvantaged in the negotiation, the EU know that the UK negotiators may not be representative and they already know that 49% of Brits don't want it anyway. May could quite likely crash out regardless of the country its about her power.

Corbyn took over a party which was a sh*t show. It was ruined in Scotland, was losing drastically in the North and in Wales, its membership was on the decline, it had no direction or vision and was full of gormless careerists at the head. Last night, in the face of the most brutal media campaign in history, he brought pride back to the party again. The biggest vote swing since Attlee, winning in seats like Crewe, Portsmouth and Plymouth...white working class seats, while making gains in Wales, Scotland and the North and firming up his base in the South. But he's done more than that. He has envigorated millions who previously felt out of touch with politics. Not just the young, but lots of working class and lower middle class voters who saw hope in his manifesto and promises. This, and I really believe it, is just the beginning. We now have a two party system in which one party is an active mass movement, while the other is humiliated and relying on a declining mainstream media to keep its position in power.

I think Brexit was probably the third in importance in why people voted Labour and first in importance for those voting Tory. The other reasons for voting Labour were May's campaign was just plain dreadful and useless and loads of young people (understandably) voted against being saddled with huge debts for getting an education, being paid poor wages, having no prospect of buying a home and little prospect of a decent company pension. You have to have a stake in a system to vote for it.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Theresa May called the election to strengthen her hand in the negotations by seeking a larger majority in the commons. She did it for the country NOT for party political reasons despite what the 'Comrades' in Labour and the other opposition parties say. Unerstatement to say that last night's result was not she wanted, nor the country needed as it goes into crucial and complex Brexit negotations.

But at least we offered what we could realistically deliver.Labour offered sky-in-the pie pledges and fantasy economics and people believed that there indeed is a 'Money-tree'.

Sorry Willo but you must be the only person to believe that. I have some sympathy for her regarding Brexit but She saw an opportunity and went for it. If she was any good it would have been the right decision and she would have won more seats if not the landslide but she came across as awful, hid away from the electorate and just kept repeating the same mantra. If there's not another General Election within the next 6 months I will eat my metaphoric hat
