England need to get over it. Consider how crap loads of the Aussies have been before being too hard on England. Smith and Warner rubbish - England bowling easily beating them. I think Stirling has a point with the keeping thing although 99 not out somewhat atoned. Plus a better keeping display. Carey clearly the better keeper, however, as is Foakes.

For test matches only why can't they add a 6th (rain day) in the calendar to be used in circumstances like this. If not used then happy days for the players.

The answer is simple. Return to the 'Timeless Test Match' - a match that continues until a win is achieved or the match is tied. 99 timeless matches took place up to 1939. The longest was won by Australia against England (it goes without saying) on day 8 before a crowd of 20,000. Nevertheless, 2 timeless tests still ended in draws. Both were because the England team had a steamship to catch so they couldn't continue otherwise they would have been stranded. I agree that's how a lot of us would like it to be. But those were days when most players were playing a sport, more than a business and everything was far far less expensive....No TV or massive wages, no advance booked venues and so on. The sixth day would be a rare occurrance and tickets sold for it would be on the day.....so that would make it like many fifth days and so probably a fiscal loss. I think you need 350 on first innings - here we are all out for 283. A couple of hours hopefully to make some inroads.

Australia take all morning to score 50 runs. Root's excellent diving catch the only thing to relieve the boredom.

You can't put a number on it as it depends on the wicket and conditions. You can't really tell what a good score is until both teams have batted. Yesterday was cloudy and the ball was swinging hence why they put us in to bat. My feeling yesterday was that a score close the 300 would be good and I still think it is. Similar conditions today and the Aussies are struggling to score runs. Likely the scores will be close after the 1st innings. All to play for.
