Russia would be justified in de-militarising Ukraine if it cannot stop them from harming its people any other way. And the evidence that it's people have been subjected to bullying and genocide is compelling on the ground. It looks very like the Balkans wars of the '90s. You really are sounding like a 1930's Nazi apologist as they are about to invade Poland.

Quote More than 150 senior Russian officials have signed an open letter condemning Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine as 'an unprecedented atrocity' and warning of 'catastrophic consequences'.
The deputies said they were 'convinced' Russian citizens do not back the war and blamed Putin 'personally' for ordering troops into Ukraine in an attack 'for which there is no and cannot be justification'. This takes quite some bravery in a country where there can be genuinely severe consequences for going against the grain. With tough sanctions, hopefully the oligarchs that Putin actually cares about (rather then the people he doesn't) will feel the pinch to the extent that the consequences are finally his to face. Wishful thinking perhaps, but who knows.

The above, alongside other contributions from this poster, are though a whole cess pit on their own. There is no excuse for what Putin is doing. Those who attempt to find an apology for him are not fit and proper British citizens.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Bit harsh, perhaps change 'British citizens' for 'social, political, economic and military commentators'? Just a thought....

Anti-war protests break out across Russia despite attempts to stifle them - [Link] Sounds like they've per-emptively arrested lots of people, and many others right now (several hundred so far) for peacefully daring to hold a fair minded view (oh such freedom..). But still some are willing to let their feelings be known. Good for them.
