Cronyism is one of the lesser subjective 'isms'. To be fair to the conservatives this is more an elitist behaviour than one strictly reserved to them......the nose in the trough is red as often as blue. The OED definition does not include your notion of thought crime, where you state that someone is racist, not if they do or say something that could be interpreted by some as racist, but because they might be thinking it!
