Yes, amazing numbers and effort. For all of the faults along the way, credit to all involved for rolling this out. It puts us in a much better position. I was really impressed with the army of volunteers in Barnes when I had mine. I reckon Brits are brilliant at sorting stuff out. Probably because we never have a plan so are used to making it up as we go along

It would drive Brussels f***ing nuts. Could you imagine ? They would go apoplectic. It wouldn't surprise me if they tried to forbid the Irish from taking it. Then the sh!t would really hit the fan.

You make a good point, this is the ultimate upside of 'winging it'.

Be an interesting book/documentary/film (and probably multiples thereof) to come out of this particular aspect of the UK's reaction to Covid. I would hazard a guess though that most countries would probably be able to do similar but without the actual vaccine...I have seen pictures of Spanish vaccination centres that have everything in place but nothing to actually inject. A bloody shame because if we all want to get some normality back anytime soon then we need a lot of other countries to get up to speed quickly as well.

Just because a few countries vaccinate the majority of their population doesn’t mean it ‘ends’. There’s a few billion people to work your way through first And yes, interesting book indeed re. Strategy and response - s*** start, average middle, and hopefully a storming comeback to finish

There are people here who I disagree with politically but respect because they take the pandemic seriously and behave responsibly. You, I regret to say, are not in that category. If that makes me "superior" then that's fine. I would not want to think and behave as you do.

Maybe because it was late in the evening but there was quite a party atmosphere probably due to a long shift ending. I could theoretically have had two vaccinations on the same day as I was called to two centres, although my NHS number would probably have flagged it up. I didn't of course.

BUT after everyone has been vaccinated I’d expect things to be reasonably back to normal because if they aren’t then when will they ever be?

Yes it is a pity that the approach isn't more uniformed and the potential negatives of that. Even outside of Europe some countries are going to be so far behind the curve that it doesn't bode well. Still, selfishly I do hope we're able to continue at the current pace here for a while. We're possibly better able to help others if it's less of a concern at home for a time.
