I would suspect that the manager's position hasn't come into any consideration whatsoever and as far as I am concerned it is highly chimerical and ludicrous to believe that he will be removed from his position should we lose against Fulham.

Hodsgon has been entrusted with an extended contract, the season is in his infancy we haven't lost all games and getting cut adrift from the pack.

I re-iterate, Hodgson will be with us for the foreseeable future.Should we secure survival and he wishes to continue for another season, there is every chance his contract will be extended yet again.I stress this is a personal view and not something I have heard !!

All well and good but losing bucketloads of supporters along the way. If I was a youngster and looking for a team to support I don’t think I would be looking at Palace as a shining example of the beautiful game. I used to enjoy watching us play. I no longer do although I don’t enjoy having to admit that either.

The reality is it wouldn't take a huge change in performances for many of us to be at least satisfied, if maybe not happy. We are fortunate that at least we have the points on the board even if the last two performances have been dross. I do genuinely think if PvA comes back in we will suddenly start being more attacking again. I think Mitchell has done well, but he does not drive forward like PvA does and he does not seem as quick. Also, with PvA in the team Roy might be happier to play Eze. Similarly, I do also wonder if Clyne might start challenging Ward who has done much better than I expected this season, but who again doesn't offer that much going forward and is slow. Again maybe harsh, but I would also switch McArthur for Luka. I think having Jairo alongside him would lift his game, similar to when Cabaye was alongside him. I love McArthur but in a midfield two I don't think we see the best of him.

So they are my thoughts. I hope and expect to see some changes this weekend as the players need a kick up the bum too.

I am happy to admit that I no longer enjoy watching us play and I have supported our team since the 60s, through all the peaks and troughs and my word there have been some troughs!

Even though at times gates were in the 6,000s I still used to look forward to my trips to Selhurst Park, but no longer.

Yes, he has the energy and pace to get up and down. The current fullbacks are either under instruction not to cross the half way line or don't trust themselves to get back. It is an area of our play that is sorely lacking, we don't have the ability to enjoy an extra man on the wing giving support, and then players like Zaha are easily picked up by the opposition.

Good post TL but personally I don't blame the players or their performances.. yes sometimes their passing could be a lot better but the tactics of two lines of defence that seem to be marking space and not closing down the opposition with no attacking intent is down to Roy.. two games without a single shot on target apart from the penalty.. no wonder our fans are getting p***ed off with watching this dross.. I've supported our team since the late 60's, travelled all over the country to follow them like many others, and I've never felt like giving up watching our boys before (apart from when that arrogant tw*tt Mullery was manager) but at this moment in time I have to admit I've had enough and don't enjoy watching them at all, which I never thought would be the case.. love our club, but can't stand the cr*p being served up right now and with Roy saying that he's pleased with the performance and disappointed that we dropped two points it reinforces that these tactics look like they will be continuing.. we didn't deserve anything from the game, we were p*ss poor due to Roy's "wonderful" defensive tactics which are sh*te to watch.. not a shot on target in 180+ minutes.. just renewed my Gold Membership in September, I wished I hadn't..

I concur with these sentiments except I never considered abandoning my support during the Mullery era!

I have also supported the club since the 60s and have travelled the length and breadth of the country supporting our team.
At the present time I don't even look forward to a game at Selhurst Park as we are an awful watch.I never ever envisaged this situation occurring.

And to think that SP fantasized about a 34000 stadium... Back to the drawing board.

It seems an eternity since the illustration of the proposed new stand was revealed to us supporters in a blaze of publicity.

All gone rather quiet - perhaps we are still negotiating with Sainsbury's over that sliver of land in the car park.

Highlights of the 5-3 victory over Bournemouth popped up on the Palace page on Facebook; quite remarkable seeing so many Palace players in the opposition half! It wasn't so long ago and it does make one wonder what has happened along the way. Well actually we know don't we: Hodgson is on the slide - after the initial zap of defensive organisation that he brings first season there is not a lot else after but a gradual decline to what we saw at the end of last season and most recently with one attempt on goal in two games, yet he has the sauce to say we defended well / strongest squad etc etc!
It's only a matter of time.

So, Cahill comes back from being sidelined for 4 months with a hamstring injury to play alongside a player he has never partnered in a competitive match before and you think playing defensively with defensive mids covering for them was the wrong tactic and we should have been playing for box to box offence and all out domination - against our greatest rivals?

Maybe playing FIFA mate but the realpolitik ain't so.

I cannot see anything in my earlier post where I said:
1. we should have played box to box offence and all out domination.
2. we shouldn't have played with two defensive midfielders against Brighton.

As for Cahill, he's experienced enough to slot in with any new CB partner and I would be surprised if Roy didn't have him and Kouyate practising together in the week before the match. In any event, Roy prides himself that every player knows what is expected of him in the position he will be asked to play in the system.

We are quite capable of showing attacking intent with 2 DMs (we did so against both Man U and Everton). Unfortunately, imo, we played anti-football against Brighton, which was a retrograde step.

Finally, I don't play FIFA or any other of those types of games, much preferring to watch the real thing and see how different teams set about their matches.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that right now is probably about as dull as I remember us playing (although during our last stint in the Championship there were some really bland seasons with very average players), especially given we actually have players capable of entertaining in the squad.

One very noticeable, and worrying thing, about the Brighton game was that despite it being completely ineffective, nearly every goal kick and kick from Vicente was aimed at Schlupp on the left. I understand the idea was to avoid the press, but all it did was result in us losing possession further up the pitch. We had Jairo who is more than capable of collecting the ball from defence and moving it forward, so it was baffling to me. I really hope this tactic does not become a mainstay.

Believe your assumptions are correct as Roy, in all
probability, has a simple brief to keep us in the PL by whatever means he has at his disposal.
Will be very ugly, negative and shows the lack of any ambition to go forward as a club until wealthy buyers are found and are willing to keep SP at the helm.
