A dirty business. With this Dyson stuff and those mega bucks contracts that were handed out to politicians mates by the dozen we really ought to appreciate it for what it is. I know we've all become cynical about politicans or imagine that 'the other lot would do the same', but really we should applaud all and any efforts to shine a light on this because it shows individuals up for who they are and what they're all about. You don't get better people in place by sneering at underdog opposition, or by letting our dislike of them excuse this entitled crap.

To be honest within reason I think that implies a balanced outlook, but in either party that really does you no favours with your base. It's a tricky balance of looking for 'everyman' appeal, while also appealing to those wedded to your party. I think he's a decent man, certainly compared to Boris, but I'm not sure that he's PM material. It's so far from an election who knows though.

James Dyson's family pay well over 100 million pounds in UK tax, more from his corporate ventures. It is completely wrong to infer he does not pay tax.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The Johnson/Dyson exchange was months ago, not in the midst of a cronyism scandal. Talking of which, if Cameron did not break any rules then the rules are wrong. This is not a partisan problem, plenty of senior ex Labour figures are just as deep into the lobbying trough. This needs to be addressed cross party. At least the scandal of European jobs for the boys has gone but UK taxpayer still paying huge amounts into EU pension pots. The Kinnock family took millions from the EU coffers. Dyson would have his personal assurance from his friend that he can side step rhe Rules that everyone else has to.follow.

In around 2009 I was speaking to a Tory opposition MP's researcher. He was saying at the time that politics was just getting interesting as the lobbiest were starting to get in touch with opposition MP's. For the first time in over a decade lobbying companies thought they had a chance of getting in power. I suspect, the real issue for any opposition isn't cronyism or corruption. Its that lobbiest only talk to decision makers or potential decision makers. With Labour in the state it is currently in, no-one is even going to waste time lobbying them. That means no one is coming to them with fresh innovative ideas they can challenge the government with. That just makes Labour's rut harder to climb out of. In 10 years or so, the Tories will be saying they same about a Labour Government.

So in summary your view is the Labour party will not have any innovative ideas unless they are bought to them by third parties. Looking at the current crop of Labour " talent " I would 100% agree.
