Without the HF we'd be singing the same s***e recycled chants that the rest of the teams in England sing, but luckily for us they came up with original chants to new tunes which has lifted our atmosphere tremendously and is one of the things that has set us apart from others to the point where other teams fans in England have adopted their own chants from us (We Love You, Seven Nation etc) so to say these new chants aren't known or liked is strange especially considering a number of them are continued to be chanted at away games without the HF.

The fact of the matter is that the HF are the only set of fans within the stadium that sing regardless of what's happening on the pitch, whereas others simply cannot be bothered which I suppose is down to the modern culture of English fans now to only really bother when your side is winning or playing well and is why atmospheres in English top leagues are ridiculed for being so poor. Luckily for us the HF broke that English fan stereotype and were the main reason why our atmosphere over the past few years has caught people's attention because it's been a breath of fresh air within English football and is what was desperately needed to rescue us from the flat atmosphere's that have plagued pretty much every team within the country.

So I must say I think you're rather naive if you believe we'll still retain that magical atmosphere without them, and when we start losing games at home you'll see just how bad it is without them.

Except when they try to attack our players when things aren't going well.

don't like the dressing in black business and some of the other antics.

But lets not chuck the baby out with the bathwater.

Without their galvanising effect on everyone else, Selhurst would be a monastery.

Before we know it there'd be an outbreak of plastic clappers.

Trust me, you never want to catch the clapper disease

At least I can now go to Selhurst in my plastic lederhosen and nipple-clamps, without experiencing the shame and abuse of being wrongly associated with the HF

I disengage, I turn the page.

Already, day one, NOT MISSED

Your mates were correct, great atmosphere. Fulham's plastic clappers were the only irritant today.

We got 3 points at Fulham today in a very tough game, with excellent backing from all the Palace fans.
And I couldn't give two hoots about the so called "fanatics".It was they who turned so viciously against the team when we were trounced by Sunderland at home last season.
I wouldn't miss them.

Sunderland was season before last I'll reserve my judgment until after a couple of home games Support was excellent today deafening at times, hope we can get the same volume at Selhurst on Monday week.

I’m sure there was a time when you didn’t know the words to ‘When I was a young boy’, ‘We love you’, ‘Here’s to you, famous red n blue’. The reality is that they try new chants instead of copying the other crap every other team sing, they’ll persist for a few games and if it doesn’t catch on they’ll eventually give up on it.

There’s been few songs, which in my opinion, were great but never caught on so they don’t sing them anymore.

Sadly I doubt it.

I was also discussing with a friend whether to have a bet that the TV commentators will pick up on it and it will be a theme for discussion.

No matter what people say they add to the iconic atmosphere and is part of Selhurst has become recognised for.

In my opinion there will be a 'drop' in intensity of atmosphere.

I'm pretty certain that a lot of the HF were at Fulham yesterday judging by the songs that were started in one particular area 'when I was a young boy' etc. Let's hope that they turn up and continue where they left off even if they are not dressed in black.

Blimey! So we are going to give the HF credit for a great atmosphere now even when they are not even there?
Or lets spin it on its head. Lets say they are there but dressed in normal Palace fan attire (casual dress or Palace colours). Are we then going to refuse to give the 113year generation supporters any credit even though the HF now want to be just like us?
They cant have it both ways. And for me they cant win either way!

As for the drum, it keeps the chants in time instead of speeding up and finishing in 20 seconds.

Long time reader, first time poster. Just to laugh at this hilarious comment.

Have you even heard the drummer trying to keep 'Glad All Over' in time? Misses the beat by about two bars every time!

One of the hilarious aspects of the HF, and I for one will miss the atmosphere they create.

Singing is as infectious as Chlamydia... all it takes is a group of fans - say 8 - 15 people - to start the ball rolling.

This could be a blessing in disguise as other fans, non HF, will have to step up their game in respects to not waiting for the HF to start.

Honest to god, i wouldn't be surprised if cpfc colluded with other fans to allow them the opportunity to take it forward int heir moderated way...

All i would day from fulham... i felt the HF were there anyways... so, let's just hope the HF get back to being fans and what will be will be.

This was once a quality forum....
