Buzzing for the same posters saying sport and politics shouldn’t mix getting all angry about England players not being allowed to have poppies on their shirts in a few weeks.

When debating with people who believe that is a reasonable comparison, there is not much point in continuing.

Everyone. Just not at a sporting event where you are paid to play, not protest.
If it is all so reasonable, why do FIFA specifically ban political protest at matches?
Because anyone can then use the platform for anything they please.
That would be OK with you all the time it was about Black rights, Islamophobia or lefty politics wouldn't it. But not if it were supportying UKIP.

I am preempting you hypocrisy.

What might a UKIP protest be about out of interest?

Unlike you, I don't have my nose down the trousers of any political party, so how the hell do I know.

I'm still waiting for an answer to my original question - should we scrap the playing of the National Anthems before sporting events - it only happens in some sports and seems to be more trouble than it is worth (not that it seems to have any worth).

Put me down as a maybe. Im thinking if there were no anthems then no pesky protests can take place but they've got some nice tunes. I can't ever remember standing for the national anthem because the first word is God. That puts me right off straight away. Maybe if no one was allowed to sing I might stand.
But I ain't standing for no God or Royal.

Why only a maybe. What is the point of them?

They're symbolic. Gotta have a national anthem, especially at internationals. It's just a shame ours is s***. I'd love to be able to stand chest out all patriotic like to a decent national anthem.

I'd have to think twice before scrapping them for Internationals, but for other games, I'd be in favour. If a person's patriotism is so flimsy they need a contrived reminder every week, it's probably a lost cause.
