Don't worry - with our record of managers under the Pozzos Silva will be available this time next year! That's if we get him - if it came down to wages you'd probably be able to offer more and certainly squad stability. Not sure he will have much say in who comes in (and out) given the transfer system the Pozzos operate under. Basically we need a manager who can win the respect and support of the players and fans...

But we're not in Europe (quite literally fairly soon), we don't have a Director of Football, as far as we're aware our managers do have a say in the players we sign and Ranieri hasn't been appointed anywhere yet and it may well be another story when he is. Plus, anyone who really believes that Sam has gone from football for good is kidding themselves, so any of his muckers who are still here will be gone by January. I think you mean the EU. We haven't geographically moved so are still in Europe. IMHO I think he has gone for good

Not that disappointed about silva. This is the toughest appointment in a while. There's no real stand out candidate. Sean dyche suits our players but would he attract quality players. I doubt it. Wagner or Stam maybe available if depending on play off result. Mancini doesn't want it. I agree that this is a tough one as there are no standouts. Glad that Mancini isn't interested as I think he is probably a busted flush now and would damage the rapport in the squad. No evidence to back that up other than what was coming out of Man City when he was there

Completely unsubstantiated hogwash and rhetoric grandstanding. Do you know a good psychiatrist (of course you do), because quite obviously you need one.

I am surprised someone of McClaren's calibre is available! A truly frightening prospect

I don't know what kind of offer we put in, but to be rejected by Watford is pretty poor in my eyes. Imagine if you were a Porto fan! Would have liked Silva, possibly the best of a bad bunch. Sean Dyche's red and blue army anyone?

Hahaha. Your love for Parish is quite funny. I'm a w***er for calling him out for what it is? If this man is so great, why did he let us get down to almost pure liquidation before buying at the last minute? Anyone who knows the club well (and the administrators) know it was dodgy. What he has done for us since is unbelievable, and couldn't credit him more, but if you think trustworthy describes Steve Parish, you should probably educate yourself... RE: control freak comment - Allardyce, Pulis, Pardew, all signings and contracts made via consultation with Parish.. Maybe Watford giving Silva the free roam of transfers will play a huge part. Dodgy? Interesting turn of phrase, what was dodgy about it. As far as I am aware it was a group of hard nosed businessmen who didn't want to pay more than they thought they had to. In most English clubs, a manager will give a chairman a list of players they want. The chairman wil discuss said list with the manager and they will prioritise or discard certain candidates. Some clubs let the manager have a certain amount of input but use a Committee Liverpool and Forest spring to mind. Watford give the manager very limited input switching players between their many clubs. Whatever the reason Silva has gone to Watford it's not because he has control of the transfers
