If we pay £28 m for Remy we really are as bonkers as people say. Not worth anything like it max £10m

To get Remy on loan would be a fantastic bit of business,but reports suggest, Chelsea want to sell him.

Read the article people nowhere in there does it say we will pay that figure!

Article states he is "joining us next season" ?

I am still very concerned Remy has had no pre season and nobody has any idea when he last actually played a game.

It has the smell of Adebeyor about it....will take a long time to get him anywhere near fit enough to play which goes contrary to what we need in statements that Alan "partridge" Pardew has made about hitting the ground running. But if it's a loan I guess it's the usual let's take the cheapest option.

Not against this in the slightest, but it does raise a few issues.

He's not had much football the last couple of years, the worry is that he has regressed as a player since he was a target for us previously.

And in a wider sense what does this say about our club/manager?

If this is a loan then what happened to Pardew's justification of the Bolasie sale being about raising funds for a second striker signing?

Going from that statement to signing a player on loan suggests either a change of transfer plans, or that there wasn't much of a plan before.

Where is our scouting network if the only players we seem to sign are those with a history with the manager or those who have impressed the chairman playing at a lower level? In modern football a manager needs to be progressive and share a hive mind of information that is provided by the club. We need to be smarter, to search wider.

Our manager seems to either not trust scouting information provided to him by the club, or the club simply isn't up to speed in this respect. Either one is worrying.
