Just for the record, I voted Tory. The Tories will win in my constituency anyway. I would urge people to vote Tory or UKIP and keep Labour out.

No Ed Milliband your labour party will help keep Britain in debt forever and unemployment will start to rise once again.
Same old Labour.

I'm staying up until the exit poll (around 11pm over here) then going to bed.

It's tempting to stay up all night but it's about 3% excitement, 97% commentators dribbling on saying not very much at all.

Like most of the posts on here.

Ha! I think that's the case with most news stories I think I will do the same, look at the exit poll then get up early.

Exit poll was incredibly accurate last time but apparently they're a bit more doubtful this year about how close it will be to the real result.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

No chance for PR. The Lib Dems attempted to get a hybrid electoral system in which was still FPTP but moved in the direction of PR. Had that system been used this time, there would probably have been greater representation from the smaller parties... and this would have made pure PR an irresistible force.

Unfortunately, the 2 dominant parties [who dominate BECAUSE of FPTP] went into media overdrive and persuaded the country that the change was an unnecessary and daft namby pamby Lib Dem stunt. We had our chance; it will not come again.

In my opinion , we very much did NOT have our chance. It was just a stunt to make us think we had a choice when clearly it was just a crap solution that nobody would want

Of course I may be wrong. To prove that I need some political scientist to assess the results and show how the house will look had the new electoral system been in place. If it would have made no substantive difference then I will forever hold my piece. On the other hand...

If it would have brought us a bit closer to pr then perhaps the silver lining for me will be that, ironically, the major recipient would have been ukip.

I used to stay up watching all the way through, with a day off the next day, fuelled by booze and speed or shrooms/lsd. Bit old for that these days.

I'll just get up early tomorrow, and check I suspect.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

The reason I want PR is that, under the current regime, most people's votes count for diddly (the majority in my constituency last time was around 15,000 - nobody I vote for will make the slightest difference) - under AV that would be exactly the same, except that when my 'real' vote is discarded, it would be replaced by my 'tactical' vote - you're still not voting for what you want, you're voting against who you don't want

Still torn on my vote. Do I think of the country as a whole and go with the Tories who in my opinion have done a pretty decent job in trying to clear up the mess Labour left?

Or do I vote for purely selfish reasons and go with someone else seeing as the Tories have totally ripped the heart out of the British Police Service and have now ripped up my contract meaning I have to work an extra 9 years on top, pay more into my pension, get less out, lose about 60k of my lump sum and wait an extra 9 years for my pension???

Tough one.

7 years ago everyone was blaming the money men, aggressive capitalism and bankers for "the mess" which was pretty much worldwide. Not sure how Labour can be held accountable for what initially started in the US.

We can blame Reaganomics and Thatcherism though. Deregulation.

The way they've screwed you lot over your pensions, I'm surprised any of you are even considering voting for them!!

I think Kemiband forgot to add that you should vote Labour to protect us from weapons of mass destruction and the like.
