RIP David Haines and thoughts with his family. Will UK muslim groups like "Cage" (formerly Caged Prisoners) , who campaign against human rights abuses against prisoners in the "war on terror" stand up and condemn it out of hand? If a group like them (who are rooted in former Al Muhajiroun supporters and ex Guantanamo prisoner like Moazzam Begg) had issued strong statements calling for his release, it would have had an impact on UK ISIS-supporting circles and, who knows, PR -wise maybe even on ISIS. Or do they only campaign against the human rights abuses that suit them? Edited by legaleagle (14 Sep 2014 11.04am)

"Senior UK imams and British Muslim community leaders have also condemned the killing, including Shuja Shafi of the Muslim Council of Britain. He said: "David Haines went out to the region to help the people of the region. That extremists chose to murder him only shows once again the depravity of their warped ideology. "These extremists in Iraq and Syria claim to be acting in the name of Islam. But there is nothing in our faith that condones such behaviour. "These extremists wish to draw attention and recruits to their cause by sowing division and fear between people here in Britain. Let us deny them that luxury. The best way to defeat their extremism is to build even stronger bonds between communities here in Britain."

Cage represent the equivalent of Sinn Fein's support groups for Provo prisoners....ie they don't condemn the general ideology or desirability of the caliphate idea etc but don't engage in "armed struggle". I frequently come into contact with people affiliated with them seeking support. They have real influence amongst the sectors of the community who promote the validity of ideas that are stage 1 along the path to solidarity with/joining ISIS...and at times like this their sanctimonious one sided waffle leaves me feeling a little sick... There has been a lot of groundwork done over the past month or so. Time to take out large swathes of them and quickly.

What A Joke. Say in March I'd never heard of "ISIS". Another USA funded group, I'm guessing.

We're in a tough place now though, it's a very dangerous situation, especially for ourselves. We can aid/support these innocent people getting executed by this barbaric group and attempt to take them out whilst it's somewhat doable and controllable, but also risk suicide missions on our own land. Or, we can sit back, let this barbaric group expand at the rate they already are and still have a good chance of suicide missions happening on our own land.
