All religion is fantasy based really, and a rejection of new understandings even if there are some useful lessons and approaches to life detailed within religious texts. Go back far enough and we could say that Christianity was a barbaric religion responsible for various atrocities. These things are hijacked and directed in whatever way is useful or visible. No major religion is going away, and as well as decent life lessons the Quran, Bible and so on of course contain many bats*** crazy and violent views that can manifest themselves in various times and places. "Is Islam, the new Nazi ?" isn't a helpful title, since most people of any religion are obviously just getting on with boring day to day life for the most part. With Islamic teachings a better balance needs to be found between allowing people autonomy of view, and not turning a blind eye to more radical views that essentially break the law. Where something is nuts, contravenes law, or endangers lives, cries of 'Islamaphobia' should be ignored. Outside of that though, people should be able to hold whatever religious views they like.

Understatement of the century! The irony is that, if you read European history, in medieval times Jews and those who did not follow strict Catholic dogma fled to areas under Islamic control as they showed far more religious tolerance. They tended not to be burned alive. Also, Christians did not come off well during the Crusades; again, the Muslims seemed to behave far better.

Agreed, & we also used to burn witches at the stake, however whilst only a miniscule percentage of Christians partake in violence a lot of Muslims or a huge swathe of them feel it is their duty to blow themselves up in supermarkets or on subway trains & have no issues driving a 10 ton truck full of explosives into a building.

Difficult to take any history opinions from someone who doesn't know when the Bronze Age was. Originally posted by silvertop

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Well all I can say is that anyone with a varied social circle will know that it's perfectly possible to know Muslim people and for it to be rather mundane and a non event. It is not however possible to know a 'decent' bog standard neo nazi. Those elevating or showing respect to the swastika adoring are pitiful, lost souls, who are mirror images of the worst extremes of what they profess to hate about other ideologies. There's no denying that there are terror related issues from various groups, and certainly some countries under Islamic law that are repugnant in their lack of human rights. In the same way there are non Muslim countries (like China) that torment, torture and indeed harvest the organs of muslims, so these things extend a little more to time, place, and the darkest parts of human nature than always a specific world view. Muslim people aren't going away and (outside of immigration policy) the only option is to try to promote a more mundane, moderate way of life and to enforce existing laws where we have failed to do so, due to fears of how it will be received. I would say that a great many already adhere to that so are not nazi-like in any way. If people are proposing that there is some other way of 'dealing with' Muslims in this country, I would assume that either means a desire to deport or remove them in some way. For one that's not going to happen, and on top of that freedom of speech and belief, where at least it adheres to law, does not only apply to ideas we personally like or advocate.

If I did I would, what I "disagree with" is your poor knowledge of history which your throw around. Trolling you, I don't even really know what that means.I am certainly prepared to point about errors of fact from anyone, in your case more than most. Your central points if you ever make them are so immersed in rubbish it's hard to spot them. There you go Oh, and generally accepted to be 3300 B.C to 1200 B.C, the Bronze Age that is.
