My favourite US President, and probably US person , is Jimmy Carter, now entering his last days. His Presidency, revisited, was quite far-seeing and his good works since an inspiration.

So, just to take one example for now, "Doubled the Child Tax Credit from ,000 to ,000 per child and expanded the eligibility for receiving the credit". How can that be laid at Obama's door? Obviously it cannot directly, but we aren't talking about personal benefits, but the overall economy. The conditions that allowed such a gesture to be made were created by Obama and any benefits to the overall economy that could flow from it wouldn't be seen immediately.

He was as a bit unfortunate (attacked by a rabbit?) but his brother Billy was good for a headline.

Isn't about time you repeated your "I am a one nation conservative" nonsense? In your eyes, maybe. In mine, it's just the truth. Doesn't mean I hate him because I despise what he does or represents. I pity him and wonder what he actually thinks in his quiet moments alone.

So by that token any successes Biden might achieve are actually down to Trump. They might, but in fact the Trump legacy is much more one of burdens to carry, and problems to overcome. Clearing up the mess of the pandemic and rebuilding the reputation of the USA as a trusted partner being just two.

The corruption his father was involved in has been a matter of open discussion and Trump learned from him and Roy Cohn. Maybe you subscribe to the idea that the only thing that matters is the result, and who-ever gets trampled on to get there doesn't count. Other opinions exist.

My wife spent a weekend at Turnberry and the staff spoke very highly of him. He paid for one ladies' child to have an operation she needed and they found him warm, approachable and a good boss. Maybe John Gotti would have been the same.
