His record on the economy wasn't good. Economies take time to reflect political decisions. Most of any upturn during Trump's first years was due to Obama. Most of the problems for Biden due to Trump, amplified by the pandemic and the war.

It seems that the term "X derangement syndrome" was first applied to Bush, but Trump encouraged his supporters to use it:-

I hate Trumpism, not Trump himself. He cannot help being born into that skin, but the people can avoid choosing someone like him. It's that the system they have, and the society it exists in, has reached this state, that concerns me. Trump doesn't have any policies. He just has reactions.

Just a few economic successes to be going on with:

The unemployment rate reached 3.5 percent, the lowest in a half-century.

More Americans reported being employed than ever before – nearly 160 million.

The number of people claiming unemployment insurance as a share of the population hit its lowest on record.

Incomes rose in every single metro area in the United States for the first time in nearly 3 decades.

Poverty rates for African Americans and Hispanic Americans reached record lows.

Income inequality fell for two straight years, and by the largest amount in over a decade.

The bottom 50 percent of American households saw a 40 percent increase in net worth.

Wages rose fastest for low-income and blue collar workers – a 16 percent pay increase.

African American homeownership increased from 41.7 percent to 46.4 percent.

Politicians created the situation but it's the electorates fault for not endorsing it.

I have little doubt that many books will be written, and probably already have been, which attempt to analyse the historical route to where they are. I don't think you can attach blame or point fingers at individual causes. I think it goes right back to the founding fathers, then the civil war, slavery, and it's legacy and the sense of entitlement among some and the sense of deprivation among others.

In your previous answer you said that "most of any upturn during Trump's first years was due to Obama".

How were the successes I listed due to Obama?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Sure, the guy is a despicable piece of crap, who isn't competent to clean his golden toilets, let only sit on them.

That doesn't mean I hate him. I feel sorry for him. I wouldn't wish his character on anyone. He must be a deeply unhappy man at his core. What I hate is what he represents. People like him ought never get close to anything which can significantly impact the lives of other people, let alone the levers of power.

What would you say about him if you did hate him?

A few more of his economic successes that you can ignore:

The DOW closed above 20,000 for the first time in 2017 and topped 30,000 in 2020.

The S&P 500 and NASDAQ repeatedly notched record highs.

A typical family of four earning $75,000 received an income tax cut of more than $2,000 – slashing their tax bill in half.

Cut the business tax rate from 35 percent – the highest in the developed world – down to 21 percent.

The share of total wealth held by the bottom half of households increased, while the share held by the top 1 percent decreased.

Eliminated eight old regulations for every one new regulation adopted.

Reduced approval times for major infrastructure projects from 10 or more years down to two years or less.

Doubled the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $2,000 per child and expanded the eligibility for receiving the credit.

Expanded apprenticeships to more than 850,000 and established the new Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship programs in new and emerging fields.

The last time I lived in a care home was more than 20 years ago.

When I owned it!

In case either you cannot read, or your memory is short, no-one doesn't know that in the early years of the Trump administration the US economy did well. What is disputed is why.

No President can impact an economy really quickly, so what you are describing can all be laid at Obama's door and not Trump's.

This isn't like changing Vieira for Hodgson and getting an instant bounce. It's more like trying to turn a huge ship going at full speed. Change takes time. Change did come, and it wasn't all his fault, but it wasn't good.
