No. Austerity has been an ideological choice. It's very poor economics. It's damaging. One of many many many articles and studies on the matter. A question for you. This whole austerity malarkey. If we do start spending more and we get the economy firing a little more, how do we improve the structure of our economy. To me it still seems very credit driven. How do we create a self sustaining, healthy economy. And where does spending fit in with that?

The biggest problem is personal and national debt. Labour = borrow - spend - get voted out - leave it to the Tories to sort and and carry the can. Same old Labour.

Conservatives should've given the money they gave to the banks to the people instead on the provision they paid off personal debt. That way banks would still get all the money but ordinary people would be debt free. Instead they just gave the money to the banks to invest and the people are no better off

I am not a big fan of greedy banks but the system, such as it is, has to be maintained or we would all be in the s***.

Give money to people to pay off debt and the money still ends up with the banks but the people are debt free too.

Interesting that the Tories are supposed to be divided and in disarray and yet Corbyn sacks three Cabinet members for voting against the whip. Labour policy on Brexit is laughable. It seems to be to think of any way possible to disagree with the government position in public even though many of them, including Corbyn, obviously support 'Hard' Brexit more than some Tories. This week has shown that any Conservative divisions on Brexit pale into insignificance compared to the schism in Labour. Despite Comrade Corbyn's instruction for them to abstain, 49 remainers voted to keep Britain in the single market. With regard to Corbyn's support for a 'Hard' brexit, he says one thing to pro-Brexit supporters in the north and another to 'Remain' supporters in London. Edited by Willo (02 Jul 2017 12.35am)

Edited by Willo (02 Jul 2017 12.35am) What this week has shown is that Corbyn has the power and backing to oust anyone from the SC who doesn't follow the whip. The fact is, May is hanging on by a thread and there's no one wants to take the mantle because of the clusterf*** that is Brexit.

No he has been weakened by the fact that 49 of his party defied his instructions. The fragile 'Coalition' between the moderates and extremists has been broken. Anyway, high time I went to bed.Goodnight.

Corbyn addresses another mob.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Perhaps a warning sign of the dictatorial way in which he'd love to run the country. Pretty decent of him to be so open, Adolf Hitler seemed reasonably sane until he got a bit of power.
