From what I'm reading there's a split in the club's hierarchy as to whether Hodgson stays or goes ( it sounds like it reflects this forum)! Dont forget Roy has a contract to the end of this season. I hope for both parties sakes that is not renewed.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is a split in thinking about Roy. I have to assume the man we wanted wasn't available this season, so we went for "safe hands" with Roy. In my opinion that's always a problem. The players know he's not the man for next season, so I believe subconsciously efforts drop as they don't need to impress. Just my theory. Despite the media noise I've not seen any of the reports suggest Cooper actually wants the job. If he did speak to us in the summer it may be that he didn't fancy us then (although he was obviously employed at the time). I would be understandable if he wanted to take some time out. Also, Textor's fall out with the rest of the Board has been quite public and some would be put off by this. Edited by Rachid Rachid Rachid (30 Dec 2023 11.10am)

FFP should be a lot more stringent with some of these clubs. It's inconceivable that they're all keeping to the rules. As I've stated before, we seem to be the only club that sticks to it. It seems just an excuse for us to not invest. I'd be asking questions like exactly how Bournemouth and Forest spent so much? And Everton's ten point deduction - does that take into account every year? Them and Chelsea have spent the whole time. Are tickets to Chelsea 1000 pounds a time? The whole FFP thing is farcical. Why even bother mentioning Man City? Anyone think they're going to get done? Yeah, right.

Brentford today is a must win game for Hodgson, lose & he should be gone. There are no excuses today, Brentford are in a terrible run of form so he cannot use the excuse’ we were up against difficult opponents’ today.

It's perhaps not quite as simple as that. Originally posted by Midlands Eagle

Anything less than a win today will not suffice. Particularly not a "should have won". No excuses.

If the board was totally behind Roy you’d expect today to be the perfect opportunity for the dreaded vote of confidence from the chairman…….we know it’s been tough……injuries…..players coming back….looking to strengthen in January….the players are behind him….etc etc. Haven’t heard anything yet. If we did god forbid lose today I think sections of the crowd will turn on him and his position becomes untenable. Let’s hope it’s a win we all need one. COYP

Today seems somewhat decisive though that’s not to say it will be. I think one thing you could suggest is that it is pivotal for the team. If they don’t turn up for Roy that may be the writing on the wall. Equally, although I doubt they will be, but if they are ill prepared for the game… same.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Would the hierarchy be 'beautyist' in not hiring Cooper!? Personally I think he'd be decent but still think his head wouldn't be right after being sacked by Forest. He'd definitely play more of our youth players, which is what most of us are crying out for. I think Lopetegui is the guy we need for now though, as he seems hungry to get back into management and would show strong intent from the club (as he's sure to demand we strengthen where needed). He comes across very well in interviews and hopefully Parish et al were feeling that way when he came to Selhurst.
