From what I'm reading there's a split in the club's hierarchy as to whether Hodgson stays or goes ( it sounds like it reflects this forum)!
It does sound though that Hodgson still has the support of Parish.
Nobody seems quite clear how the owners vote on these key decisions or whether Parish has the casting vote in the event of a split.
It seems to me though that some of the noise has died down in the last day or so.
Unless the club suffer a bad defeat today, I suspect Hodgson to stay for the foreseeable future.

Dont forget Roy has a contract to the end of this season. I hope for both parties sakes that is not renewed.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is a split in thinking about Roy. I have to assume the man we wanted wasn't available this season, so we went for "safe hands" with Roy. In my opinion that's always a problem. The players know he's not the man for next season, so I believe subconsciously efforts drop as they don't need to impress. Just my theory.
SP admitted the transfer policy was affected by a desire not to block the 1st team pathway for the youth players, but I don't think even he believed that Roy would totally black ball all of them to this extent.
We are not a rich club, so we always have to be careful with money, especially as we still have, (unbelievably) our stadium to update, which makes criticism of SP being cheap quite laughable really, especially as for a few years he did put players before infrastructure and now we are still where we are because of it. Anyway, I believe the reason we are only looking to loans, as SP stated is because we can't afford to waste what we have on young players to develop and sell when we have a manager that won't use them. Therefore I believe we will bring in players Roy will use, but only on a loan basis as we don't want to be lumbered with the types of players he wants for 3 years that the next manager won't use. I just hope we do business early for once, cos we need to start improving as quickly as possible. I really believe it wouldn't be as urgent if he'd used his whole squad and not totally ignored the younger players and slagged them off into the bargain. Just my opinions.

Parish himself has said that certain powers are reserved to the owners.
He said, for example, that for key decisions and signing cheques above a certain amount, all owners have voting rights.
It's very difficult to believe that hiring and firing a manager would not come into that category.

I can just imagine the board meeting. Parish states that we are going to be relegated if we don't change the manager and suggests Steve Cooper as a replacement. Harris, Blitzer and Textor respond with "Who's he"

Despite the media noise I've not seen any of the reports suggest Cooper actually wants the job. If he did speak to us in the summer it may be that he didn't fancy us then (although he was obviously employed at the time).

I would be understandable if he wanted to take some time out. Also, Textor's fall out with the rest of the Board has been quite public and some would be put off by this.

FFP should be a lot more stringent with some of these clubs. It's inconceivable that they're all keeping to the rules.

As I've stated before, we seem to be the only club that sticks to it. It seems just an excuse for us to not invest. I'd be asking questions like exactly how Bournemouth and Forest spent so much? And Everton's ten point deduction - does that take into account every year? Them and Chelsea have spent the whole time. Are tickets to Chelsea 1000 pounds a time? The whole FFP thing is farcical. Why even bother mentioning Man City? Anyone think they're going to get done? Yeah, right.

Brentford today is a must win game for Hodgson, lose & he should be gone. There are no excuses today, Brentford are in a terrible run of form so he cannot use the excuse’ we were up against difficult opponents’ today.
I would like to see him go anyway, fed up with the boring football , terrible & predictable substitutions.
I would rather appoint someone else who tries to win games & entertains even if it means relegation, instead scoring a goal & trying to defend that lead at home & then drawing or losing.
We are currently ranked. 20th in form at home, this is normally our strength.
Whatever happens though it will not matter to my 2 boys & me, we will always support Palace whatever.

It's perhaps not quite as simple as that.
Textor is already having an influence on our transfer policy.
Whether you think that's a good or bad thing is a different matter.
Furthermore, with the millions at stake I doubt the investors take the cavalier approach you suggest.

Anything less than a win today will not suffice. Particularly not a "should have won". No excuses.

If the board was totally behind Roy you’d expect today to be the perfect opportunity for the dreaded vote of confidence from the chairman…….we know it’s been tough……injuries…..players coming back….looking to strengthen in January….the players are behind him….etc etc. Haven’t heard anything yet. If we did god forbid lose today I think sections of the crowd will turn on him and his position becomes untenable. Let’s hope it’s a win we all need one. COYP

Good post Dave, I agree.

Today seems somewhat decisive though that’s not to say it will be.

I think one thing you could suggest is that it is pivotal for the team. If they don’t turn up for Roy that may be the writing on the wall. Equally, although I doubt they will be, but if they are ill prepared for the game… same.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Would the hierarchy be 'beautyist' in not hiring Cooper!? Personally I think he'd be decent but still think his head wouldn't be right after being sacked by Forest. He'd definitely play more of our youth players, which is what most of us are crying out for. I think Lopetegui is the guy we need for now though, as he seems hungry to get back into management and would show strong intent from the club (as he's sure to demand we strengthen where needed). He comes across very well in interviews and hopefully Parish et al were feeling that way when he came to Selhurst.
