It feels like it's time to put Conor Gallagher behind us. It's like we're a lovestruck teenager still chasing their first girlfriend, even though they got dumped ages ago. We need midfielders this window. At least 2. They can be next years back ups if we can get someone better in the summer. Because Doucoure is the only good midfielder we have and Hughes is a decent squad player. The rest are not/will not be fit for purpose next year. Gallagher will be at Chelsea until the summer and I suspect beyond. He is getting as much game time as he can expect at Chelsea and we can't wait. Move on to realistic targets and if he goes elsewhere in the summer so be it. Yep I think that's a fair stance. The unending and somewhat embarrassing pursuing of CG must at least be some acknowledgement of our need to resource this area of the pitch. At the very least, if enquiries/efforts are being made, we should be looking at/for other options too which may well be more realistic and necessary.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

In my very humble opinion the likelihood of Conor coming back to Selhurst in the foreseeable future is pure fantasy. I thought he played a typical Conoresqe game yesterday - chasing balls, fouling opponents, feigning injury and time wasting. He has the ability to cause havoc and I loved him for it at our place last year. As much as I wanted him to stay, he clearly always had eyes on playing for his boyhood club. Potter has now seen how he can work hard in both attack and defence and if his name is not one of the first on the teamsheet in future I'd be very surprised. He's Chelsea. Forget him.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I thought he was excellent yesterday and even if he does leave Chelsea it certainly wont be to come to us. He won’t be short of suitors from clubs with a bit of ambition.

Although he'd be a welcome addition, I actually think we are in greater need a more defence-minded midfielder who is happy to sit deeper and break-up play. CG was fairly anonymous for us once he was asked to play deeper. Unless Potter tells him he is not in his plans then I also don't see him leaving anyway.

ITs actually starting to get a bit embarrassing that the media and some of us are still desperately clinging onto this. The lad is playing for the team he supports, why would he give that up to move to a team that look utterly lost. Answer he wouldn't. Move on.

If we had the money to buy him id rather spend it on Sarr from Watford .

Couldn't agree more. I read yesterday he had more touches in the game than Schlupp, Eze and Zaha combined. It certainly highlights that we're carrying too many passengers in the team atm.

Given that it was a rare start for him, he had a point to prove to Potter. I still think that in the long run he will find it hard to hold down a place, but he didn't do himself any harm with his performance yesterday. I also think there are other players that Chelsea would sooner part company with.

Zaha would sit behind Sterling, Mudryk, Havertz, Mount ..... With Chelsea's current injury list, I can't see CG going anywhere in January unless they're so far up s*** creek on FFP that they need the cash right now. If that is the case, I can't see us beating Newcastle to the signature - it's European football on a plate.
