The people rightly or wrongly voted for Boris and many regardless of part allegiance still like him. I am not convinced Truss has the affection of the nation.

Tell that to our resident male Conservative member who thinks it perfectly ok for them to do this. Of course, theoretically the MPs could still reject her and choose their own preference. Ultimately it is down to them. They wont, of course, because of the fear of deselection. What a system!

What a total disaster. It really takes a special level of ineptitude to appear even less convincing than Johnson, who must be going around with a big smile. Let this idiot take the flack and be ready to answer the call when it comes. Her jam tomorrow promises of the economy being stimulated by tax cuts, when people have no bread today, isnt going to impress anyone. Except the tiny numbers who actually belong to the party.

Truss is clearly a deluded idiot and keen to claim something she wants but does not have. On an interview with Laura Kunessberg today she constantly referred to if she was elected to be Prime Minister. Well she is not being elected to that role. She is by a quirk of our politics being elected as Tory leader and as they currently form the government becomes Prime Minister. She simply does not have a mandate to be Rime Minister from the nation, she merely benefits I suspect because the average Tory party member could not bring themselves to vote for a man with brown skin. She is being elected by the membership of the Conservative Party so she is quite correct to use that term, I don't recall any reference by her to new mandate. The Labour Party has a similarly cumbersome leadership process. There is nothing to force a general election when a party changed leader, similarly we do not have a presidential system so no one ver votes for a prime minister as such. If you throw in an unfounded racist jibe compare the Tory record on diversity with Labour, stupid comment IMHO. The majority of the membership in most polls wanted Badenoch. The 2020 Labour leadership election had 2 mixed race candidates, the rest were white.Only half Indian Lisa Nandy made it to the final three. Don't let pesky facts get in the way of your ideology.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

You have no idea of my political views. You have merely made an assumption based on my views of the current state of the Tory party as demonstrated to my mind by the current process I actually agree with you in terms of diversity across the main political parties and parliament. To be frank I don't see competent leadership across either of our two parties. I am wondering if as things may get more serious what will happen politically as there does not seem to be anything or anyone to unite the nation. But if you want a political opinion, the current government has been asleep at the wheel since they ousted Boris and that has made things a lot worse.

Are you suggesting that there i sa a large element of the tory membership that could be racist?

I am suggesting that given the binary choice the party members would rather vote in a white woman than a brown skinned man as leader of their party. This does not have to be down to overt and outright racism, it can be accounted for by other factors. Equally I would for example not suggest all Muslims are religious zealots whose aim is to make the world an Islamic nation or all union members are die in the wool communists.
