This is getting more and more absurd. The supposed etymology of nitty gritty has been questioned since it didn’t appear before the 1950s. After I got on my 'Soapbox' outside of HOL, I was sent the following : "There is no evidence to support the suggestion that 'nitty-gritty' has any connection with slave ships. It may have originated in the USA as an African-American expression, but that's as near as it gets to slavery. It isn't even recorded in print until the 1930s, long after slave ships had disappeared, and none of the early references make any link to slavery" But there have been concerned raised over it's SUPPOSED links to slavery.

That’s the absurdity of the whole thing. Anyone who is concerned about unproven links in expressions to 200 hundred year old events must spend their life in a frenzy of offence.

As previously noted my toxic masculinity is acceptable when my independent empowered wife finds a spider in the sink.

My car has a 'master' cylinder AND a 'slave' cylinder in the braking system, do I need to sell it or give it away now?

I think you should take an indelible pen and divide off the master section from the slave section....You can colour the sections in if you want but be aware that this could be considered cylinder black face....so that's at your own risk. Anyway once you've done this, point yourself towards the 'slave' cylinder and kneel....bow your head a bit and raise a 'black power' fist. Once you've done that, give some aggressive recriminating glances towards the master section of the cylinder. That should end racism within your cylinder....good luck.
