I said at the time I thought the £2.5m purchase was an excellent bit of business. I know it’s early days but he does seem to be on a different level to last season, even though his (offside) goal at Wolves was exceptionally well taken. Not only did he work his socks off against Man Utd he was also very effective and took his goal very well. We currently look more threatening with Ayew up front than with Benteke. He deserves to start against Villa and is hopefully complimented with either Meyer or Camarasa in midfield to add some creative flair. Edited by Phil’s Barber (26 Aug 2019 3.33pm)

Just look at the difference in cost to the club, for the return you're getting.

I think he played slightly off colour last season to get a move.

Like Meyer, it could just be because he didn't have a proper pre-season, joining us at the twelfth hour. Or it could just be down to confidence. Whatever it is let's just hope he keeps it up.

That finish was so cool. Clean through with a world class keeper to beat 70k Mancs screaming at him to miss and he calmly gave De Gea the eyes and rolled it in the corner. Top drawer

I thought Ayew was marvelous against Man U and he was also our best attacking player against Everton. I don't think he is ever going to be a 20 goals a season player but if he played like that every week I would be happy. I think he got a lot of unfair grief last year as he was never really given a decent chance and always played out of position with the odd few minutes here and there. He has a lot of skill under his belt and one of his biggest positives is that he cares and loves to get stuck in to the opposition, he has a nasty streak which is something badly needed at our club because we are too nice at times. If he can get on a decent run with goals he night just become a very unlikely fans favourite.

it's always very reassuring when your manager makes a call you are a bit iffy about and he turns out to be spot on and yourself nowhere near, Ayew seems to be showing his Swansea form of a couple of seasons back when he looked very decent, I don't think Meyer has improved anywhere near as much, I'd like to see Camarasa in support - he hasn't made the bench yet but in Roy I trust, any invective needs to go SP's way rather than Roy's, I'm sure Hodgson wanted a replacement right back

Yes 2.5 mil seems to be a cracking piece of business. He has improved significantly from last year and should be a definite starter up front.
