Without the HF we'd be singing the same s***e recycled chants that the rest of the teams in England sing, but luckily for us they came up with original chants to new tunes which has lifted our atmosphere tremendously and is one of the things that has set us apart from others to the point where other teams fans in England have adopted their own chants from us (We Love You, Seven Nation etc) so to say these new chants aren't known or liked is strange especially considering a number of them are continued to be chanted at away games without the HF. The fact of the matter is that the HF are the only set of fans within the stadium that sing regardless of what's happening on the pitch, whereas others simply cannot be bothered which I suppose is down to the modern culture of English fans now to only really bother when your side is winning or playing well and is why atmospheres in English top leagues are ridiculed for being so poor. Luckily for us the HF broke that English fan stereotype and were the main reason why our atmosphere over the past few years has caught people's attention because it's been a breath of fresh air within English football and is what was desperately needed to rescue us from the flat atmosphere's that have plagued pretty much every team within the country. So I must say I think you're rather naive if you believe we'll still retain that magical atmosphere without them, and when we start losing games at home you'll see just how bad it is without them.

COYP It’s also been a bit sh1t with their say on what is sung and when or the constant drone of drum and hum. I’m sure people will make up for it. When the team weren’t performing or the games were lost in very recent times it was pretty dire with the HF so we’ll see.

Well I think you’re rather naive to think there aren’t songs that apart from 100 people, nobody knows. And using ‘We love you’ as anexample that nobody knows is something else. Yes the HF sing whatever, but don’t yourself be so naive to think that more than 100 do because they don’t, and often it isn’t really noticed or liked because it’s some monotonous rubbish nobody knows or likes. And you don’t think we get ridiculed a bit for the constant drum drone etc? Ok pal.

And you don’t think we get ridiculed a bit for the constant drum drone etc? Ok pal. Out of all the new songs they've introduced to our fan base over the last few years, there are very few that 'nobody outside of the 100' know, I just used those two as a small example of the many number of original songs that are sang by people outside of the HF at away games, in pubs etc so just because you don't know them doesn't mean nobody else does. You believe the HF singing for the entire game whether we're winning or losing is generally disliked and goes completely unnoticed by everyone because of this strange claim they they sing a number of songs nobody knows or likes? That seems like an extremely minority opinion mate and quite a ridiculous claim, you really would rather Selhurst was like the majority of other grounds with awful atmospheres every game wouldn't you? Shame. And ridiculed by who? Fans of other clubs who are unlucky enough to have the same s***e atmosphere as everyone else? Let them mate, I'd much rather we be ridiculed for the drum than having a crap atmosphere!

[quote=bright&wright;3359169] Calm down. Whereas you are basically saying anyone who disagrees with your opinion should be banished to a kids section? But yes, I’m going to take a wild punt and assume all of you sit in the Main Stand with your prawn sandwiches moaning about the noise and reminiscing about flat caps, wooden seats and when ‘kids knew how to respect their elders’. Wrong on all counts little fella!

There are a few songs sung that nobody knows. That is a fact and they’re either sung when we’re playing air struggling badly or when others want to start songs everyone knows. If you don’t agree with that there really is no point to the discussion. And I said it wasn’t really liked when there’s a monotonous drone only 100 people are involved in. I don’t see what’s wrong with that. They could’ve carried on for all I care but it’s not like anyone other than the 100 will be involved and like I say, nobody else can get anything going because it’s being conducted by someone with his back to the football. If they just banged out loads of chants everyone knew then it’d be great, but they don’t. Instead there’s b sides and the albums played when really the crowd needs the floor fillers and best hits. We’ll see. Like when loads of people pipe up when they’ve gone on a silence strike, I’m sure everyone will make more of an effort and it’s not as if the football and potential is really bad. Then I would be concerned. Edited by Rudi Hedman (11 Aug 2018 6.00pm)

Neither saw anyone wearing all black or congregating like the HF usually do. Already, day one, NOT MISSED

I think the HF might be a bit precious don't like the dressing in black business and some of the other antics. But lets not chuck the baby out with the bathwater. Without their galvanising effect on everyone else, Selhurst would be a monastery. Before we know it there'd be an outbreak of plastic clappers.
